Bob Thomas (born March 1, 1955 in Appalachia, Virginia [1]) is a radio personality, actor, and writer. He was one of the top radio announcers in Knoxville, Tennessee for 25 years. During his tenure at radio station WIVK, he had the highest-rated midday radio show in the United States for over 16 years. [citation needed] As an actor, he has appeared in many films and hundreds of commercials. He wrote several episodes of the popular TV show Lizzie McGuire. In 2004, he played "Slammin' Sammy" in the film Friday Night Lights. Bob and Knoxville radio legend Ed Brantly currently host the Ed and Bob Show on WCYQ radio in Knoxville.

He is the father of young actor Jake Thomas.
