Talmon Marco is an Israeli-American entrepreneur and businessman, best known as the CEO and founder of Viber[2] - a proprietary cross-platform instant messaging voice-over-Internet Protocol application for smartphones with over 200 million users.
Biography
Born in Israel, Marco served as Chief Information Officer for the Israeli Defense Forces Central Command.[3] He completed a degree in Computer Science and Management from Tel-Aviv University, later moving to the U.S. where he spent most of his adult life.[4]
In 1998, Marco co-founded iMesh, and currently serves as its President. Two years later he Co-Founded Nortex Software, and in 1997 he Co-founded Expand Networks. Marco served as the President of Expand Networks until 2004, and today he serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of GuestCentric Systems, Inc.[5][3]
Airplane incident
In may 2012, Marco was escorted off a Delta Airlines plane by the police after flight attendants found him using the Viber application on board the aircraft during a flight to New York, after he was told to shut his phone off. Despite the police presence, he said he was not arrested, and was released after he explained that he was using an approved device.[6]
