2013 elections in India

Legislative Assembly elections in India are scheduled for nine legislative assemblies in 2013. The tenure of the assemblies of Karnataka, Delhi, Tripura, Rajasthan, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Madhya Pradesh are due to expire during the year while that of Chhattisgarh will expire on 4 January 2014.[1]Voting in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases on 11 November and 19 November 2013. [2] So far, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has successfully conducted elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland in February[3] and in Karnataka on 5th May. The Elections in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan would be conducted in November-December while the counting shall take place on December 8.[4]
Tripura
Tripura had assembly election on 14 February 2013. The eleventh general election to the Tripura Vidhan Saudha started after Tripura's Chief Election Officer of the election department, Ashutosh Jindal, announced the event on 11 January.[3] According to the report by Times of India, the chief election officer of the state told that the voter turnout across the state was 93.57%, which set the record for the country's highest-ever voter turnout.[5] This beats the previous record at 91.22 which was also set by Tripura in its 2008 assembly election.[6]

Meghalaya
Meghalaya held elections on 23 February to elect its 21st government.[3] Results: INC - 29, UDP - 7 (out of 60) [7]

Karnataka

Delhi
The Delhi State Assembly elections of 2013 will be held on December 4, 2013 and counting on December 8,2013.[10] The Indian National Congress party has governed for the last three consecutive terms. The elections mark the debut of the Aam Aadmi Party.[11]
Rajasthan
The Rajasthan State Assembly elections of 2013 will be held on December 1, 2013 and counting on December 8,2013.[10]. The main contest between incumbent Indian National Congress and main opposition party Bhartiya Janta Party.
Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh State Assembly elections of 2013 will be held on November 25, 2013 and counting on December 8,2013.[10]. The main contest between incumbent Bhartiya Janta Party and main opposition party Indian National Congress.
Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh State Assembly elections of 2013 will be held in two phases, first on November 11,2013 and second on November 19,2013 and counting on December 8,2013.[10]. The main contest between incumbent Bhartiya Janta Party and main opposition party Indian National Congress.
Mizoram
The Mizoram State Assembly Elections 2013 will be held on November 25 and the counting would be done on December 9.[12]
