Peter Christopher Bourjos (born March 31, 1987) is a Major League Baseball center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Career

Bourjos attended Desert Mountain High School for his freshman year later and transferred to Notre Dame Preparatory High School, Scottsdale, Arizona, and was selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft, signing on August 18, 2005.

Bourjos was recognized as the Angels minor league system's Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.[1] In the offseason of 2009, the Angels bought his contract and added him to their 40-man roster to prevent him from being selected by another team in the Rule 5 Draft.[2] Going into the 2010 season, he was named the second best prospect in the Angels system, the 'Fastest Baserunner', and the 'Best Defensive Outfielder' by Baseball America.[3]

In 2011 he, along with Austin Jackson, led the American League with 11 triples.

On November 11, 2013, Bourjos was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals for third-baseman David Freese and pitcher Fernando Salas.

Personal

He is the son of former San Francisco Giants outfielder Chris Bourjos.[4]
