The Zenica-Doboj Canton, officially the Zenica-Doboj Canton[1] (Bosnian: Zeničko-dobojski kanton[1]) is the fourth of 10 cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Geography

This canton is situated in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The cantonal capital is Zenica and the other town mentioned in the name is Doboj, which is in Republika Srpska, but part of the former Doboj municipality is in the Zenica-Doboj Canton. The canton has an area of 3904 km².

Municipalities

The canton is split into the municipalities of Breza, Doboj Jug, Kakanj, Maglaj, Olovo, Tešanj, Vareš, Visoko, Zavidovići, Zenica, Žepče, Usora.

Population

It has a population of 400,000 (est.) residents, primarily Bosniaks. There are also some Croats who mostly live in the municipalities of Zenica, Žepče, Usora and Vareš. The Serb minority lives mostly in Zenica with smaller populations being also present in Tešanj.

In 2003, population of Zenica-Doboj Canton numbered 399,492 people, including:

  • Bosniaks: 334,031 (83.6%)
  • Croats: 52,130 (13.0%)
  • Serbs: 10,180 (2.5%)
  • others: 3,151 (0.8%)
