Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rawalpindi established in October, 1977. Its offices have been located earlier on 6th road, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi but shifted into newly constrcuted campus at Morgah near Attock Refinery Rawalpindi in March 2013. The main object of the Board is to conduct examinations of SSC & HSSC and declare their results. The Board is autonomous in nature. The central forum is called as Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) and all the BISE's in Punjab take over the Chairmanship for one year on alphabetical order.

Jurisdiction

Jurisdiction of Rawalpindi Board includes following districts:-

Establishment of the Board

The Chairman is Chief Executive
Secretary is sector head of Finance, Establishment, Inquiry, Library, Public Relations, Physical Education, Meeting and Stores branches.
Controller of Examinations is sector head of Computer Cell, Conduct, Secrecy, Legal Cell, Matric, Inter and Record branches.
Audit Officer is head of Audit branch.

Board of Governors

The Board consists of the following members: Chairman The Vice-Chancellor of the University or a University professor nominated by him. All EDOs Education of District Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi. One representative of TAVTA Govt. of Punjab Lahore. One representative each of the Finance and Education Department not below the rank of a Deputy Secretary. One Principal of degree college situated within the jurisdiction of the Board to be nominated by the Controlling Authority. One Principal of an Intermediate College situated within the jurisdiction of the Board to be nominated by the Controlling Authority. Two Headmasters and one Headmistress of schools situated within the jurisdiction of the Board to be nominated by the Controlling Authority. Two persons nominated by the Controlling Authority from amongst scholars and retired educationists. ^[2]

The officers of the Board are Dr. Muhammad Jawwad Haider Shirazi, Javed Masood Bhatti, Abdul Ghaffar Khan Niazi, Muhammad Afzal Bhatti, Syed Iftikhar Hussain, Abdul Majeed Bhatti, Asif Masood, Mrs Naureen Mazhar, Raja Tasleem Ahmad Kiani,Yasir Ghiyas, Muhammad Sarfraz Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad, Raja Shabbir Ahmad, Nasrullah Khan Jalip,Sakhawat Ali Majid ^[3] ^[4]

Examinations

The Board conducts examinations of SSC & HSSC twice a year. Almost one million students appear in the examinations annually. ^[5]

Scholarship and Prizes

The Board awards following scholarships to the SSC students:

National Talent Scholarships
Hijri Scholarship
In addition to the above following Scholarships are also awarded.

30 Scholarships to the children of Teachers. 5 Scholarships for Hafiz-i-Quran. 5 for those securing best marks in Islamiyat Compulsory. 3 for the children of Board employees.
