Valeria Luiselli
Valeria Luiselli (born August 16th 1983) is a Mexican novelist and non-fiction writer.
She is the author of the book of essays Sidewalks and the internationally acclaimed novel Faces in the Crowd. Luiselli’s short fiction and non-fiction pieces have appeared in magazines and newspapers such as The New York Times, Granta, Brick, McSweeney’s and Dazed and Confused. Her work has been translated to multiple languages.
Personal life
Luiselli was born in Mexico City in 1983, and since then has lived in Costa Rica, South Korea, South Africa, India, Spain, France and the Unites States. In 2008 she moved to New York City. She lives in Hamilton Heights, New York, and is married to the writer Álvaro Enrigue.
Professional life
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Luiselli moved to New York City to study a PhD in Comparative Literature in Columbia University.[1]
She teaches creative writing, collaborates as a writer with a number of art galleries and has worked as a librettist for the New York City Ballet.
