I will do more research before I make any similar changes.

Thank you for you patience with this.

Also apologies for changing the Telecommunications ...

I looked at many telecom operators and most of them were coded Telecommunications.

Since the pointers resolve to the same Industry definition, I now realize there is no reason to make these changes.

Once again, thanks for your patience with me.

Changes in Motorscooter article

Hi Biker Biker,

my addition to motor scooter article was copied from one of my article (SYM DD50). Please let me know if you disagree with the following analysis.

" Until mid-1990s, scooters generally referred to classic Vespa styled scooter with 4 speed manual-transmission, a relatively powerful 2 stroke engine, and foot operated rear brake. From mid 1990s, the concept of ‘twist and go’ – referring to CVT transmission (with no clutch or transmission) scooter began to gain popularity. As cities got congested, using a small scooter to commute within city got popular with people who are otherwise not interested in motorcycling thus the complexities that come with a manual transmission. Since then, the popularity of twist and go scooters increased. Now (2013) manual scooters like Vespa T5 are referred to as ‘classic scooters’ and very few manufactures exist. For example, Piaggio currently makes only one model of manual transmission scooter, which is Vespa PX150. Back in 1980s, almost all the scooters from Piaggio were manual transmission with left hand operated clutch-twist gear. Currently, ‘Scooter’ almost universally refers to a small motor scooter with a 50cc to 250cc engine, twist-and-go transmission, 2 or 4 stroke engine, ease of operation, and lesser license/registration requirements than motorcycles. While maxi-scooters can range from 250cc to exotic 850cc engine displacement range, they represent a minute fraction of total scooters in use around the world."

Thanks,

See WP:OR, because that's what your personal analysis is - original research. Where are the citations to support your assertions that, for example, 250 to 850cc bikes represent a tiny fraction of scooters. What about all the other claims? Who are the people referring to classic style scooters? Bottom line, this is not encyclopaedic. --Biker Biker (talk) 14:53, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

REBELS, MC , Red Deer, Alta.

The Rebels MC in Red Deer , Alta was not disbanded within the first year they were together like it said in the Wikipedia article. They were together from late 1967 to about late 1971 to early 1972 and during that time a fellow named Walter 245@@@@ came down from Edmonton to party with the Red Deer chapter and asked to open a charter membership in Edmonton and eventually he was allowed to open the Edmonton chapter. The reason I know this to be FACT is because I AM one of the founding members of the original REBELS MC in Red Deer, Alta. back in the late 60's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.66.225.10 (talk) 23:58, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you were a member, when did you leave the club? Where was the clubhouse? What bar did the Red Deer chapter mostly hang out at? If what you claim is true, can you provide a source (a book, a newspaper article, something...) that will support your claim? Unfortunately original research is not an acceptable source. I will try to help so we can improve the accuracy of these types of articles where few written references exist. If you have copies of any memorabilia that would support your claim (i.e. minutes from meetings, a photograph of a Red Deer patch that can be dated to later than 1969 ... anything ... you could email it to me at garth_of_the_forest@yahoo.com; until then unfortunately we have no choice but to revert your changes. I don't doubt what you say, we just need to be able to support any changes to articles with sources that are acceptable to Wikipedia. I would also be curious to hear of any other inaccuracies you may have found when you read Coyote's book (I assume you must have read it if you were a founding member of the Rebels). Can you share any other details of how/why the Red Deer chapter folded? It was a few years before my time... Garth of the Forest (talk) 01:30, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Mobile Device Management & SOTI Pages

Hi Biker Biker, I apologize for the inappropriate external link to SOTI's website on the Mobile Device Management (MDM) Wiki page- I was hoping to include SOTI in the listing of major vendors.

Would it be acceptable to add SOTI to the list without linking to their external site?

I am currently trying to revive their company Wiki page, which I would ideally like to link to. Perhaps you could assist me with this as well, as it has proven quite challenging.

Please let me know- thanks in advance, I appreciate your help!

Hey Biker Biker

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:40, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!

Removing Claire Leavey & Dave Minton from CBG entry

Hi! I am Claire Leavey, and I've reverted your removal of mine and Dave Minton's names from the Classic Bike Guide entry. Look at any issue of CBG from around 1992 to 1996 and you will see both our names on the masthead as regular contributors. I became editor 1993. Prior to that, Rebekkah Smith co-edited British Bike with Tim Holmes, but she was not sole editor - hence I was the first. Shortly after me, Karen Tait became editor of Back Street Heroes. She was the second. I also edited the UK title Motorcycle Classics (there is a current, unrelated US mag with that title), but it was a short-lived magazine and so has no Wiki entry. I hope that clears matters up for you. Please don't revert my edits again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RetroMetroCo (talkcontribs) 11:19, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot

We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.

IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.

Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.

Sorry about that, but I have no idea what I did wrong!

I found a message today " Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Feet forwards motorcycle, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Biker Biker (talk) 19:47, 8 February 2013 (UTC)"

Obviously I have no recollection of what change I may have made in February, nor was I aware that there are two classes of Wikipedia pages, those that you're actively encouraged to contribute to and correct, and others where you shouldn't. Be assured that I'm happy to erase all comments that I may have made, and all text that I may have added. Just tell me how I find it???? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.159.47.191 (talk) 15:14, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
