Maripily Rivera [a] is a Puerto Rican actress,[1] model,[2] and TV personality[3] from Ponce, Puerto Rico.[4]

Early years and career

Maripily Rivera (birth name: María del Pilar Rivera Borrero,[5]) was born 15 June 1977[6] in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Her parents were Hector Rivera and Pilar Borrero[7][8] Rivera has been a model since 1995 when she took part in the Miss Puerto Rico Petite pageant.[9][10] She also starred in the reality show “Famosas VIP” in the Telefutura network.[11] Rivera co-hosted “Eso vale” and “No te duermas” with Héctor Marcano in Puerto Rico's WAPA-TV, Univision's flagship station.[12][13][14][15] She also worked in JAM for Telemundo internacional.[16] Rivera's rise to acting fame came with her role in the film Miente (2009).[17] Rivera became an entrepenuer after launching her own line of fragances.[18] As an entrepenuer she has also succeded in creating her own brand of womens swimwear and accessories.[19] Rivera is also the owner and creator of the retail store chain Pompis Store that specializes in denim that exalt women's derrier, and a fragance called MP by Maripily. She also tried acting in theater with Los Monologos de la Vagina (Vagina Self-talk).[20]

Family life

Rivera was the wife of baseball star Roberto Alomar.[12][21][22] The public has largely expressed that she married Alomar for money, a question she evaded as she exited divorce court.[23] She has a son by Alomar named José Antonio García.[24]

As of December 2014, Rivera was engaged to businessman Alberto Rodríguez and they have a May 2014 wedding planned. The ceremony is reported to be taking place at the historic Ponce Cathedral in Ponce, Puerto Rico, with a reception at the also historic Castillo Serralles castle. Her maid of honor will be Shanira Blanco.[25] Rodriguez is Chief Operating Officer at Spanish Broadcasting System.[26]
