merging of pages

Suggest merging this page with the following - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_State_of_Iraq_and_the_Levant — Preceding unsigned comment added by DD Ting (talkcontribs) 03:26, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest allowing this page to remain for the time being to see if anything substantial is added. The page has potential to be useful if a de facto, lasting state has been created and said state should, in my opinion, be separated from the organization that formed it in the same way there is both an article for The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and one for the Taliban. However if after, say two months or some other set time, nothing of substance is added, then I suggest merging it with the page suggested above or simply deleting it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.255.184.148 (talk) 14:33, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In Arabic it always called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant الدولة الإسلامية في العراق والشام and it declared itself as a state since it was called Islamic state of iraq in 2006. also it controls large areas in Syria and Iraq more than that of many countries in the world. if u wanna consder it as a state just edit this page Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant - No need to create another page with the same info. 3bdulelah (talk) 15:38, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As 3bdulelah says, they have considered themselves a state since 2006. Anytime ISIS takes over territory they seek to incorporate it into their state, throughout 2013 as ISIS took over towns in Syria they declared emirates of Raqqah, Jarabulus, Azaz etc. They did the same when they seized Fallujah, it is a complete misreading to claim as the article currently does that some distinct entity called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was proclaimed on 3 January 2014. This "state" was declared in 2006 and any territory that ISIS captures and enforces Sharia in is considered by them to be a part of it. Gazkthul (talk) 01:04, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
