Scott Wilson Williams (born c. 1964) is an American serial killer. Williams, who lived in Monroe, North Carolina, has been convicted of the murders of three women, crimes that took place in two states over a period of nine years.[1] He has additionally been convicted of crimes against two additional women who were not killed.

Murders

  • Williams killed Sharon House Pressley, 37, from Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1997.[2]
  • He killed Christina Outz Parker, 34, from Monroe, North Carolina, in 2004.[2]
  • He killed Sharon Tucker Stone, 46, from Monroe, North Carolina in 2006.[2]

Investigation, trial and sentence

Stone's remains were discovered by a man picking up cans.[3] Williams, an employee of the North Carolina Department of Transportation,[1] had no prior criminal record[4] and nothing initially drew the attention of law enforcement to him. A comment was made by an investigator that “He’s lived a normal life, except on those three or four occasions.”[1] However, in connection with the Stone murder, Williams was identified as an acquaintance. This ultimately led to his arrest, which occurred at 1:30 AM on 9 March 2006.[5] All three victims had been shot in the head and had suffered a similar form of mutilation.[2][5] In the course of interviews law enforcement found that he also knew Parker and Pressley.[1] It turned out that Parker and Stone knew each other.[6]

The cases were investigated by the Union County—Chesterfield County (North Carolina) Homicide Task Force,[4] South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI.[2] Evidence against Williams included DNA, ballistics, witness identification by his surviving victims, and statements by Williams himself.[7]

On July 18, 2008, Williams entered Alford pleas to the murder charges and was sentenced to three consecutive terms of life without parole. In addition, Williams entered Alford pleas to charges of first-degree kidnapping, rape, and sexual offenses against two other women in 1995 and 2000.[4][6][7]

Williams is imprisoned at Alexander Correctional Institution.
