Kris Reeder (born 1984) is one of the finest trombonists of his generation winning several major awards alongside appearances on BBC1 (2012), BBC Radio Oxford (2012) and concert appearances at Wembley Stadium (2012), Royal Albert Hall (2001), Royal Festival Hall (2000,2001,2002,2003,2004) and LSO St Lukes (2004), London. His big, powerful sound and huge stage presence mark him out amongst his peers.

Kris Reeder was born in Oxford and grew up in Banbury/Oxford where he started playing the piano at the age of 7 (1991) and the Trombone at the age of 11 (1996). He was first exposed to Jazz when he participated in a free jazz/performance project when he was 14 (1999), gaining inspiration from the 'unfinished' nature of jazz. Kris won a scholarship to study at the world renowned Royal College of Music Junior Department, London at 16 (2001) and when onto win a scholarship to study at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, London when he was 18 (2003), studying Bass trombone under Bob Hughes FRAM in James Watson's legendary Brass Department at RAM. As a young professional trombonist Kris circulated widely with global music icons including: Sir Colin Davis, Nicola Bernadetti, Derek Watkins and Ian Bousfield and performed across London at most of the major concert venues. Kris left the Royal Academy during the second year (2005), to focus on electronic and free jazz music recording.

Kris worked as a freelance musician after leaving the RAM and in 2012 released '2.30am' followed in 2013 by 'Garden Green'. This was quickly followed by 2 EP's 'Not Viral Material' and 'Funky Dance Sessions' which are a juxtaposition of House / Garage/ Hiphop/ Funk and Keyboard. His late 2012 EP 'Solace', utilised futuristic sounds and a poised approach to free melody and harmony. His first solo trombone EP entitled ‘futurecooljazz’ (2014) which featured flowing melodic lines and new juxtapositions between jazz trombone, ableton production methods and field recordings.

In 2013 Kris founded and currently leads the groundbreaking 1984Ensemble, which experiments with electro - acoustic improvised free music. The 1984Ensemble utilises broad arts based practitioners including Voice artists, actors, dancers and works to fuse different arts practices together. In 2014 Kris continued to collaborate with world class jazz improvisers, performing with Pat Thomas at the Old Fire Station, Oxford.
