On the 13/01/14 The Certification Officer for Trade Union in the UK removed the National Fedration of SubPostmasters from the list of unions on the ground it does not meet the definition of a trade union[1]

The National Federation of SubPostmasters (NFSP) was a national trade union with both commercial trading and charitable arms. It is one of two unions which represent subpostmasters in the United Kingdom, the other been the CWU Postmasters Branch.

The NFSP holds an annual conference

It claims to be the only organisation recognised by the Post Office to represent subpostmasters. However a freedom of information request [2] Post Office Limited stated that “...the Post Office Ltd cannot recognise the National Federation of Sub Postmasters for collective bargaining purposes.” Which can be considered a primary function of any union

Questions of the unions independence from Post Office Limited has been asked and a freedom of information request[3] have revealed significant sums of money been paid to the NFSP by Post Office Limited. In particular funds to support the Network Transformation program road shows. While the NFSP support the NT program a BIS committee report[4] has highlighted a number of flaws in the program which are detrimental to both the subpostmasters and the general public as such the independence of there support should be questioned
