Clinkle is a mobile payments startup company.

History

Clinkle was founded in December 2011 by Lucas Duplan, then a computer science student at Stanford University.[1][2] Duplan had decided to work on mobile payments during a study abroad program in London after his freshman year.[2]

The company raised $25 million in seed funding from a broad range of Silicon Valley investors, including Accel Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Diane Greene, Intuit, and Peter Thiel.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

Clinkle announced on September 26, 2013 that after only two months of opening their college wait lists, over 100,000 students have signed up.[11][12]
