US Marshals film

Was Sheridan really selling secrets to Chinese Man or Did Frank Barrows use a payphone to make Sheridan think it was just a Kite's Job to make Routine Exchange Suitcases with Chinese Man? If Sheridan didn't know that the suitcase had Government Secrets, then how come Sheridan didn't open the suitcase before-hand? Is it because Sheridan's not supposed to open Suitcases? When 1st agent's behind Sheridan in Garage, did that Agent even Identify himself or was that Agent actually associated with Chinese? How's that Self-Defense for Sheridan to kill 1st agent? How did Sheridan kill the 1st agent? (76.20.90.53 (talk) 08:21, 1 February 2014 (UTC)).[reply]

OP seems to be referring to U.S. Marshals (film). Though I have no idea the answers. Dismas|(talk) 00:39, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We have had this question before. Try searching the archives here. Rmhermen (talk) 14:01, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone please tell me if my theory's right or wrong? I don't mind if it's Right or Wrong. DSS Director Lamb sent DSS Agents Alex & Billy to arrest the Mysterious Person, who's exchanging suitcases with Chen at (UN Garage). Chen & Mysterious Person are exchanging suitcases in (UN Garage). Chen & Mysterious Person have been friends for more than 1 year. Mysterious Person knows that (he's/she's) giving Government Secrets to Chen. Mysterious Person knows that (he's/she's) getting Cash from Chen. Chen's a Chinese Diplomat, who has Diplomatic Immunity. Alex knocks out Chen in self-defense. Alex can't arrest Chen because of diplomatic immunity. When Billy's behind Mysterious Person, Billy identifies himself as an Agent, but Mysterious Person intentionally kills Billy by hitting his head against the wall. Alex hears Billy shouting "Help Me" & that's why Alex tries to shoot Mysterious Person in Self-Defense but Mysterious Person intentionally kills Alex. Mysterious Person knew beforehand that Alex & Billy were Agents. Alex & Billy still don't know Mysterious Person's identity. Mysterious Person throws (his/her) Gloves into Trashcan on the Street. When Lamb finds those particular Gloves, those Gloves have Fingerprints that matched Sheridan's fingerprints on Lamb's (employees' files) because Sheridan's 1 of Lamb's employees. Since Lamb found Sheridan's fingerprints on those Gloves, Lamb realized that Sheridan's the Mysterious Person who sold Secrets to Chen & that's why Lamb created Federal Arrest Warrant for Sheridan. The Warrant lied that Sheridan's fingerprints were found in Garage or the Warrant honestly said that Sheridan's fingerprints were found on Gloves.(76.20.90.53 (talk) 00:19, 7 February 2014 (UTC)).[reply]

Back issues of magazines

Are there any websites that sell back issues of old magazines? I am aware of Ebay and Amazon. Any others? I did a Google search, but that generally produced websites that sell back issues of one specific magazine only. For example, maybe People magazine, on their website, sells back issues of People magazine. That's not what I am looking for. I want a general website (like Ebay or Amazon), where regular consumers (not publishers) buy and sell the old magazines that they have laying around their house. Any ideas? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 17:34, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, but if there is such a website, it will not have as much for sale as eBay does. eBay is the biggest marketplace for this sort of stuff and there is no reason to look for anywhere else. --Viennese Waltz 22:22, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? What do you mean by "there is no reason to look for anywhere else" ... ? If the items I want are not found on Ebay, clearly I would not keep looking on Ebay. Rather, I would look elsewhere. No? Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 23:15, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly, although if the item you want is not available on eBay, it's unlikely that you will find it anywhere else. Look at it this way: if someone has the thing you want, and they want to sell it, they will sell it on eBay. They won't sell it anywhere else. --Viennese Waltz 08:56, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's the whole point. I am not finding it on Ebay. So, I want to explore other options. Yes, I know that Ebay is the biggest, most popular internet marketplace site. But, I assume that there have to be others. Even if they are smaller and less popular sites, they may have the items I want. Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 15:09, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Really? Never heard of Gumtree? Britmax (talk) 14:31, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks. No, I had never heard of Gumtree until just now. I just read the Wikipedia article. That seems more like a Craig's List type of site, as opposed to an Ebay type of site. Am I correct? In other words, at Ebay, people bid on auctions to purchase items. At Craig's List, people (sellers) simply post the items that they want to sell; it's basically an online classified ad. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 15:12, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Abebooks.com carries magazine back issues, and I have bought from there. μηδείς (talk) 22:22, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I will check into Abe Books. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 02:17, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
How old? You might check at your local public library. My old library only kept print magazines for a year, then gave away/sold/recycled them. This would be useful if you just generally want old-ish magazines, less so if you want a specific magazine and issue. SemanticMantis (talk) 21:08, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Magazines from the 70's, 80's, 90's. Relatively old. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 02:17, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info and input above. I appreciate it. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 18:32, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie Chaplin film

Today's featured article on Charlie Chaplin got me thinking. I have seen a Chaplin film where Chaplin's character is a subtenant of a man whose mood varies depending on his condition. When he's drunk, he is friends with Chaplin's character and wants the very best for him. When he's sober, he can't stand the sight of Chaplin's character. Which film is this? JIP | Talk 19:36, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are looking for City Lights. Now Chaplin sometimes reused and updated bits from his short films so that might be what you are remembering but, at the moment, I can't recall that in this situation. MarnetteD | Talk 20:13, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't mention his lawsuit he won against Shawna Vercher and now how does he feel she has a book out all about her laughable triumph over him? What does he say about all this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.35.250.133 (talk) 04:39, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That would be Tim Donaghy, the NBA referee who bet on NBA games. What references have you found for the item you're talking about? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:44, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Bugs, I know you like to ask questioners "What have you found on Google so far?" or variations thereof such as the above. The thing is, it's kind of the point of this reference desk for us to provide the references so that the questioner doesn't have to go looking for them. --Viennese Waltz 09:32, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was trying to be polite. The way the question is worded sounds like an invitation to debate. So, go ahead and debate the OP, if you're of a mind to. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots15:36, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Two points: (a) VW, we do ask our OPs to search first before coming here, so Bugs was on the money there. (b) Bugs, the crux of the OP's question was "What does he say about all this?". That's a factual thing. Either his views have been reported, or they haven't. Anyone who went beyond finding a ref for this simple query would have been going off topic and also engaging in a debate that was never asked for. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 17:56, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I know we do Jack, but I tend not to take too much notice of that instruction. An awful lot of the answers we give here could have been found by the questioners themselves using Google. But this desk would be a very boring place if all we ever said to a questioner was "search Google". I firmly believe that we should be doing questioners' Googling for them. That's what they expect of us. --Viennese Waltz 19:16, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The part about the "laughable triumph" is what makes the question look like an invitation to debate. And he says the article doesn't mention it. The usual advice to anyone who wonders why an article doesn't exist or some fact is not in an article is to research it and post it as an edit. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:10, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(e/c) But Bugs didn't say "Search Google". He assumed the OP had already done that (which is AGF since it's what we ask our OPs to do), and asked them what they'd found so far. Up above you told Joseph not to bother going beyond Ebay to find what he was after, when there are clearly other resources, which is precisely what he asked for. You seem to be coming from diametrically opposite positions in these 2 threads. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 20:15, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, no – my answer to him is precisely that there are no other resources for what he is looking for. --Viennese Waltz 20:37, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
How can you maintain that position when Britmax has demonstrated its falseness? There would be many more than just that counter-example. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 20:44, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but Britmax hasn't demonstrated any such thing. Whatever it is that Joseph's looking for, he ain't gonna find it on Gumtree, or any other place except eBay. That may not be a provable assertion, but in practice it's certainly the case. --Viennese Waltz 22:07, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is not the place for speculation about someone's feelings or to editorialize about the merits of a law case. μηδείς (talk) 22:20, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Does somebody recognize the music in the background?

Hi,

There is that music in the background in a TV show I've seen.

As for the SpeedyShare link, you're meant to click the filename, not the button at the bottom. An MP3 can be risky, but much safer. And much more likely to play music. I don't recognize the tune at all. InedibleHulk (talk) 06:04, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

Top Gear viewing demographics

Wikipedia, here, lists the viewing numbers for the television show, Top Gear. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find, via Google searching, detailed demographic information. The main thing I really would like to know is the average age (or the age distribution) of Top Gear viewers. On the side, it would be good to know if the audience age is decreasing, increasing, or stable throughout the years, and the audience gender distribution for recent years, but these are not nearly as important to me as finding out the average age in recent years. If anyone could assist with this information, it would be much appreciated. 81.101.120.9 (talk) 18:49, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

PSP Vita

If i buy Chinatown Wars to PSP Vita can i so use the touchscreen-games? And if i get a card to Playstation+ will it so expire or can i activate it when i want to? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.176.236.246 (talk) 21:15, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Vita version of the Chinatown Wars game is the PSP game. It has not been altered to add any functionality from the PSP version, so if you want the touchscreen games you need to play to DS or iOS versions.
The PS+ retail card itself has no expiry date that I can find, so the activation should be valid at any time after purchase. I wouldn't wait too long to activate it, though. Why buy it and wait, though? Buy it only when you think you will need it and activate it right away. That way there is no risk of losing it. Mingmingla (talk) 00:41, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Time warner vs comcast

Both pages claim each to be the largest media conglomerate in the world. Are they the same conglomerate or is someone lying? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.114.205.146 (talk) 23:13, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it depends on how they define "largest". The articles Time Warner Cable and Comcast seem to have some hints, but it's not really laid out in black-and-white. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots23:31, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This list of the top 100 capitalized companies in the world has Comcast at 52, and News Corp at 97, with Time Warner not even on the list. Time Warner lost a huge market position from the 90's to the 2000's with its AOL merger fiasco. See the Time Warner article. μηδείς (talk) 01:36, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The media landscape has changed in the past couple years (and gotten a little confusing, with companies splitting up and merging with or without changing names). Looks like the Time Warner article needs some help, with an "as of 2012" qualifier that cites sources as old as 2007. Comcast is indeed larger than Time Warner, though, and the largest "media company" in the world in terms of revenue. While Time Warner was spinning off its cable company, Comcast was buying NBCUniversal. --— Rhododendrites talk22:08, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unknown piece

Hi,

There's this piece stuck in my head for a while, and I can't work out what it is. It's a waltz, and the first bit starts like (in F major)

C D E F G|A D (high) C (high) A C(high)| G-sharp

If no one knows, I could try to put more of it in some notation software (I can hum at least a minute of it).

Thanks in advance, 27.32.104.185 (talk) 00:12, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You tried to befuddle us by putting the bar lines after every 5th note, which is not exactly 3/4 waltz time. However, we can see through your cunning plan.  :) It's the opening piece, "Lyrical Waltz" from Dances of the Dolls, Op. 91a, a set of piano pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich. It also appears in his ballet The Limpid Stream and yet again in his Ballet Suite No. 3. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 00:32, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the really quick response- I thought it might have been him! The barlines were in the correct places though. 27.32.104.185 (talk) 08:41, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Of course they were. Please accept my apologies. It starts with a quaver rest, and all the notes are quavers except the first C, which is a crotchet. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 10:49, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
