Recharge is a business news website and monthly magazine covering the global renewable energy industry, particularly wind and solar power. It is owned by Norway's NHST Media Group, but headquartered in London, with full-time editorial staff in the USA, UK, Brazil, Germany and Japan.[citation needed]

Recharge has been described as "one of the most authoritative publications in the renewable energy sector",[1] and as "a role model for the future of trade journalism" by German industrial giant Siemens.[2]

Its breaking stories have been picked up by major international news organizations, including the BBC,[3] The Washington Post[4] and Denmark's Dagbladet Børsen.[5]

Recharge was first established in January 2009 as a weekly newspaper, before becoming a monthly glossy magazine in January 2013.[6]

It also produces daily publications at trade shows including the European Wind Energy Association's annual event.[7]

Former chief executive of the European Wind Energy Association, Christian Kjaer, joined Recharge's board of directors in June 2013.[8]

Thought Leaders Summit

Recharge's Thought Leaders Summit is an annual invitation-only conference for senior international renewable-energy executives held in Holmenkollen, Norway. It operates under the Chatham House rule.[9]

The first summit was held on January 9, 2014, in Holmenkollen, Norway, and attended by about 50 senior professionals from the global renewable-energy industry,[10] including high-level executives from Siemens, Vestas, Statoil and E.ON,[11] with the keynote speech from Scotland's energy minister Fergus Ewing.[12]

The event was officially opened by Henrik O. Madsen, the chief executive of event sponsors DNV GL,[13][14] the world's largest ship and offshore classification society.

Awards

In 2010, Recharge was awarded the Advocate of the Year award by the UK's Renewable Energy Association, the first time the prize had been given to a publication.[15]
