Cheongna Dalton School first opened its doors to students on September 1, 2011 and currently has classes from kindergarten to the 11th grade.

The school will be graduating its first four-year high school senior class in the 2014-2015 school year. The present 46,200m2 (11.4 acres or 497.292 sq ft) site was selected to provide easy access to Korean families as well as expatriate families living in the Incheon area. Conveniently located in the city of Cheongna (near the western coast city of Incheon), CDS is about twenty-five minutes east of the Incheon International Airport and the Cheongna Subway Station (to be completed by May 2014) subway station. The city of Cheongna has been designated an International Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) to transform this area into a hub for logistics, international business, leisure, and tourism for the Northeast Asian region.

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), based in California, accredited Cheongna Dalton School for a six-year term on July 2, 2012. As a condition of attending the school, every student is required to hold non-Korean permanent residency or citizenship.
