Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
I don't think the edits you made to the "acting career" section of the Omotola article is grammatically correct. Let me explain why I think that. I think the movies Phone Sway and Last Flight to Abuja needs to be parenthesized. The part about breaking the record needs to be modified as well because if you exclude PS and LFTA, the sentence reads: "Ije was the Highest grossing Nollywood film at the time - respectively broke the record later on." I don't think this is grammatically correct (I hope you understand where I'm coming from). I know that everyone writes differently; I also know that you've contributed a lot to this article. I decided to leave a message on your talk page so that we can discuss this particular sentence. I want to refrain from edit warring. versace1608 (talk) 22:49, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- So can you kindly state a better way of depicting it without giving an ambiguous meaning like before? Thanks. --Jamie Tubers (talk) 17:22, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
- I jumped to conclusions and I'm apologizing for that. If I were you, I would have worded the sentence differently. I don't have the right to think that a sentence I come up with automatically deserves to replace yours or anyone else. Wikipedia is a community and not a one person's show. Next time, I will read thoroughly before jumping to conclusions. Sorry for taking your time. versace1608 (talk) 21:18, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
- It's alright, you can always state your observations and suggest possible corrections; It's all in the quest to make articles better. Since you've said there's nothing wrong, I guess it's all cool :). --Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:57, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

File: Omotola_Jalade_Ekeinde
- I think I will go ahead and nominate the Omotola image for deletion. We must all learn to do things the right way and that includes uploading images. When I first started Wikipedia, I didn't know what I was doing. I was uploading images any how. I've learned a lot in a short span of time and I try my best to upload images the right way. I hope you do the same. versace1608 (talk) 00:44, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- I am going to help you out. I will send an email to the email address listed on Omotola's verified twitter account, requesting that her management send an email to Wikimedia OTRS. I will also ask them to attach one or two photos of Omotola to the email should they choose to help us out. You do not have to worry about changing your username in order to continue to upload copyrighted images. I don't know if you know, but you can get block for doing what you did. Also, if you try opening multiple accounts for the same purpose or get people you know to engage in the same activity, you can get block permanently. Recently, I helped some experience editors block a Nigerian editor who created a bunch of accounts to carry out the same style of editing. FYI: I will try to send out this email by tomorrow. Hopefully they'll reply. Let's keep our fingers cross. I had to the same thing for the image that's on Wizkid's Wikipedia article. versace1608 (talk) 02:48, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know what you are talking about. I changed my name because I was using my first name before, which is kinda not right for me. And the recent image I uploaded isn't copyrighted. It's a self owned work. I removed the template on the image - You're not suppose to 'think' it's a copyrighted work. You give a public link where the image can be found before tagging for deletion. Thanks--Jamie Tubers (talk) 08:43, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- And I haven't uploaded various deleted Images. Only two of my uploaded images have been deleted since I joined wikipedia three years ago. The first one was copyrighted (I guess I was ignorant then), the second one though it was self owned (I take celebrity pictures alot...especially on set and on the red carpet), it has been published on blogs (My mistake!). So I guess you must be mistaking me for someone else. The message you sent to Omotola won't yield anything cos she most definitely doesn't know the image exists, talkless of owning the copyright. The picture is mine. You can prove otherwise, then tag the picture for deletion. Thanks--Jamie Tubers (talk) 09:31, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- You are right about the name part, but the fact that you changed your name and uploaded another image was suspect. If you own the work, you and you alone have the copyright to it. You still have to send a declaration of consent statement to OTRS. The message I sent to Omotola can yield results if Omotola took a picture of herself on her personal camera and emailed me a declaration of consent form with the picture or pictures attach. In the email I sent her, I didn't ask for specific pictures. I only ask for pictures she owns the copyright to. (If she takes a photo of herself on her cellphone or camera, she owns the copyright to it). versace1608 (talk) 20:33, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- OTRS isn't necessary if the image has not been published before. Check Image Use Policy.
- Okay....I thought you asked Omotola to send OTRS for the picture I uploaded. Since you asked her for an Image she snapped herself, that's okay.
- By the way, try to use the word Wikipedian more. If you blocked a Wikipedian for whatever reason, good for you. No one really cares if he/she is from Liberia or China. Never allow your personal sentiments get in the way of your sense of judgement. Cheers --Jamie Tubers (talk) 20:59, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- LMAO. I didn't block a Wikipedian. I am not an administrator. I said Nigerian to be very specific; I didn't mean no harm and you shouldn't take it the wrong way. I do respect your advice nonetheless. versace1608 (talk) 21:18, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- I know you didn't block the editor - It was in your first post, I was just saving time. The nationality adds nothing to your point. You blocked a wikipedian for Copyright Violations/Vandalism just like you could've blocked any other user that did the samething. I will try not to take it the wrong way. lol--Jamie Tubers (talk) 21:27, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
Warning
It's one thing to delete a source out of a BLP because you are trying to prove a point in a RM, it's something else to leave an edit summary like this: Jamie Tubers (talk | contribs) . . (3,442 bytes) (-311) . . (Undid revision 593013044 by In ictu oculi (talk) Vandalism) (undo | thank)

- Your contribution made no sense and qualified for what is termed Vandalism on wikipedia and I wrote the reason why I reverted your post in the edit summary. I just checked your subsequent edits and it seem like you are trying to advertise your blog or something on wikipedia. Well I hope you know that's against Wikipedia's policy.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 21:19, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, I checked again. I think your contribution was 'Citation gone wrong'. Maybe you can check how to make proper in-line citations :)--Jamie Tubers (talk) 21:34, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia on Tablet Computers
Please is it possible to make edits on Wikipedia with a Samsung Galaxy Notebook? Because I don't see any provision for that here. Seanord (talk) 10:40, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

How do I locate the edit text? Seanord (talk) 22:14, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- First of all, make sure the page is set in desktop mode not mobile mode. Then, you'll get the page just the way it is on your PC. You should see the 'Mobile|Desktop' link at the bottom of your wikipedia page.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:42, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Reception and Reviews of African Films
I am trying to edit the reception section of the movie articles I have created and make them more encyclopaedic. I have taken a look at Hollywood movies and I found out that they all use Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic however these stated critics do not review most African films. I did some research on the internet and I found out that in terms of consistency and web traffic the top reviewers in Nollywood are BellaNaija Sodas and Popcorn, Nollywood Reinvented, NollyForever. I want to know if you think I can use them or I should just ignore that section in the film articles. And you also said something that I should stop quoting what these critics say but won't I be saying just what I think if am not quoting the critic? and how can a movie be reviewed if it does not contain quotes from the a reviewer? Just tell me what you think generally about the reception section of African films should it be removed totally or it should stay? Darreg (talk) 08:34, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi,
- first of all, thanks for dropping the offences taken. I didn't mean to sound offensive.
- now to your message;
- Nollywood reinvented is okay.
- Most critics post their reviews on newspapers, But you can always get them online.
- Nollywood forever is just a review blog, I'm not sure it qualifies as a 'critic'.
- I don't know anything about Sodas and Popcorn though.
- I didn't tell you to stop quoting from critics. Infact, it's very important in the reception section. I only said you were quoting the wrong thing. You should quote the 'key-point' that covers the whole review or simply the conclusion of the critic.
- I've cleaned up The Meeting; You can see I didn't remove quotes, I only modified them.
- Again, try to get the rating scale of each critics. For example: for most reviewers, 50-60% equivalent usually means average. So a film getting ratings close to such figures or less is not 'critically acclaimed'. Enjoy :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 13:38, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
Wow...You have really cleaned up The Meeting article, I would use it as my guide for the other articles. Thanks. Darreg (talk) 22:50, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- Try to check The Figurine, that should be a better guide. Happy weekend! --Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:57, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks my weekend has been fab so far and i hope you are also enjoyn yours. The Figurine article is quite comprehensive. the most comprehensive of an African film on Wikipedia that I have seen thus far. I wonder how you got that much information because I know they don't really take records in Nollywood. I noticed that you always express numbers in words when talking about accolades, I wanna know if its a rule or just your preference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darreg (talk • contribs) 23:21, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- lol. You know, once you find a film interesting, you tend to find out about the 'behind the scenes'. Phone Swap, Last Flight to Abuja and The Meeting are still underway (in my secret sandbox). I recently posted the plot for phone swap. I hope to make those three articles just as comprehensive, eventually. Nollywood doesn't really hide records that much, they do keep them...We (Africans) are just usually too lazy to care about such things. We don't bother to dig them out. lol.
- by the way, don't bold the casts, it's not encouraged....I just learnt that few days ago.
- And it's not a rule to write numbers in words, It's just my preference. I feel it gives a kinda 'seriousness' to the article. writing numbers in figures looks like shortcut to me. lol--Jamie Tubers (talk) 23:43, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
I guess we are part of the select few to start searching for records and documenting them. I want to expand the Africa Movie Academy Awards article and I have been thinking about things to add...so far the only thing coming to my mind is a table containing statistics and records like most awards/nomination by an actress, most by an actor, award by country, most by a film, etc I was just thinking if you can think of anything that can also be added to expand the article. Darreg (talk) 12:42, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- I guess! it's cool....Expand and add as much relevant content as possible. You can check Academy Awards, I'm sure you'll see sections you can use for AMAA too. I know information can be gotten on history, nomination and voting processes, rules, categories etc. My interest is not in Award ceremonies for now. So, it's up to you and other editors.
- Goodluck :)--Jamie Tubers (talk) 12:57, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
Half of a yellow sun
How exactly is D'banj's "Bother You" song an accolade? The section shouldn't be titled accolade. According to a dictionary definition, the word accolade means "any award, honor, or laudatory notice" [1].
Multiple sources say the song is a soundtrack to the movie. Here are the list of sources I've come across:
- http://allafrica.com/stories/201401231629.html
- http://hiphopworldmagazine.com/2013/12/21/onyeka-onwenu-and-dbanj-record-soundtrack-for-half-of-a-yellow-sun-movie/
- http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/01/dbanj-to-release-half-of-a-yellow-sun-soundtrack/
- http://www.theheraldng.com/dbanj-release-single-video-half-yellow-sun-soundtrack/
You need to correct the section header Jamie. versace1608 (talk) 04:17, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
FYI: You said: "The song is not in the film, so it's not suppose to be under "Soundtrack" ". A song doesn't necessarily have to be played in the film before it's considered a soundtrack. According to the soundtrack article, "In movie industry terminology usage, a sound track is an audio recording created or used in film production or post-production." D'banj's song is a soundtrack to the film because 1.) multiple sources I provided confirms it and 2.) it is used in the film's post-production per the sentence quoted. versace1608 (talk) 04:55, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hello,
- Accolade just as you pointed out is an expression of praise and admiration for an item, so these; In February 2014, it was announced that D'banj would release a track titled "Bother You", a song inspired by the film, to coincide with the release of the film. D'banj was inspired to record "Bother You" after watching the film. The music video for the song includes images from the film signify "accolade".
- soundtrack also includes songs inspired by. So, bother you can be still be listed in the soundtrack heading along with the other soundtracks, with the appropriate note (to address its relevance to the film) attached. what is needed in the "Soundtrack" heading is info on the OST album and the music score, then a full list of the soundtracks. Those sentences do not suit the heading. They are expressing how D'banj got inspired to record a song for the film after watching the movie, the focus isn't much on the "soundtrack". It is more of the "approval/Attention/praises gotten", so it is an accolade. That doesn't stop "Bother you" from being listed under the soundtrack heading when the full list is available. Cheers--Jamie Tubers (talk) 10:39, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
You are very argumentative. You remind of myself. You don't have to be argumentative when you do not have a case here. You simply cannot justify how the release of the song "Bother You" is specifically an accolade. Now you're saying that if more songs get release, "Bother You" should be listed under soundtrack. You ignored the definition of accolade and the sources I provided. I got an experience user to look into this and if he agrees with me, the section will be change to soundtrack per the sources I provided. versace1608 (talk) 13:58, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
- First of all, I'm not arguing with you. And I told you the other time not to try to psychoanalyze me, you don't know me. If you do that again, I may be forced to do the same.
- D'banj was inspired to record and release a soundtrack for the film after watching the film. That obviously shows it's a reception related sentence, and it belongs to the accolade sub-heading. I also said when the OST album is released and D'banj's song is included, "bother you" will still definitely be listed with the other soundtracks in the Music and Soundtrack heading. That's not rocket science! Maybe you should check movie articles (especially featured and good articles) and see what is included in the Music and Soundtrack heading. Go to your experienced user. Cheers :)--Oyesunkanmi (talk) 15:12, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
editor adding self-published work to various articles
Why did you revert me? Cubaking doesn't deny being the author of [2] and [3], books he has added to a number of articles. They are both obviously self-published. What checks did you make before reverting me? I've removed them again. Dougweller (talk) 14:33, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi,
- I'm so sorry about that! I didn't know he was spamming every article with them. I just saw the books are related to the article and I reverted your edit. Sorry :).--Oyesunkanmi (talk) 15:24, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
