I read your comment on an archived talk page for Jesus (from, I think, Nov. 2013) about the pronunciation of the Greek name of Jesus. I wanted to tell you that your comment doesn't seem to make sense. The first three letters of the name are Iota Eta Sigma. These are pronounced "yee-ays." In Greek, an initial Iota followed by another vowel is always a "consonantal iota," being pronounced something like a vocalized soft J or a Y. "Yeh-" Greek words demand one syllable per vowel or diphthong, and here we have three: I-e-sous. There is no "T" or theta sound present in the word, so I don't understand why you would say "ethos" is a proper pronunciation of it. Matthew Baldwin (talk) 12:19, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
