Marty Angelo worked in the entertainment business from 1965 to 1980 as a television producer (Disco Step-by-Step), record promoter, restaurant/nightclub owner and personal manager for rock 'n' roll bands (Raven and Rob Grill and The Grass Roots). He received his first professional breaks in 1967 from rock guitarist, the late Jimi Hendrix and former Beatles legend, the late George Harrison.

After a drug arrest in 1980 for cocaine possession, Angelo became a Christian prior to serving a six-year federal prison sentence.

Upon his release on parole in 1984 Angelo worked for various Christian ministries such as, Faith Farm of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, Teen Challenge of Southern California, Chuck Colson's Prison Fellowship and the Palm Beach Drug Abuse Foundation. Since 2005, Angelo has headed up two of his own ministries entitled, Marty Angelo Ministries, Inc. and Once Life Matters Ministries, Inc. Both ministries reach out to prisons, rehabs and troubled celebrities.

Angelo released a book in 2005 entitled, Once Life Matters: A New Beginning. Impact Publishing. ISBN 0-9618954-4-6. The book goes into details of his life in the entertainment business during the '60s and '70s leading up to his arrest, prison life and Christian ministry work for over 30 years. The book is offered free to prisons, jails, rehab programs, and troubled celebrities.

In 2013 Angelo released the book, "Vision of New Jerusalem: Now" ISBN 9780615562438 and in 2014 he released, "Once Life Matters: A New Beginning - 2nd. edition" ISBN 9780985107727, "Lives that Matter: Letters from Prison" ISBN 9780985107741, and "Inspirational Insights: Christ in You" ISBN 9780985107734.

Special Historical Disco Projects - 2000-2005

From 2000-2005 "Disco" began to make a resurgence and numerous production companies made contact with Marty Angelo for various historical purposes only. Here are some of the projects he agreed to participate in.

2000 - Donor - Disco Step-by-Step® - website. Creator - internet website. All files were donated to the United States Library of Congress in 2005.

2000 - The Disco Dj Hall of Fame™. Creator. Founder. Member. All files were donated to the United States Library of Congress in 2005.

2000 - The Hustle Dancers Hall of Fame™. Creator. All files were donated to the United States Library of Congress in 2005.

2000 - The Official and Original - Disco Hall of Fame™. Creator. All files were donated to the United States Library of Congress in 2005.

2000 - 2005 - conducted various interviews with music related internet websites, NPR radio, television, newspapers, magazine articles, and documentaries.

2001 - Disco Step-by-Step® television show master videotape collection donated to United States Library of Congress - 2001.

2002 - Advisor/Promotion - Paramount Pictures dance related movies DVD releases (Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Stayin' Alive, Footloose, Urban Cowboy, and Flashdance)

2002 - 2005 - Advisor/Video Clip Contributor - Experience Music Project’s exhibit: Disco: A Decade of Saturday Nights. This exhibit opened at EMP's Seattle, Washington headquarters in 2002 and traveled to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan in 2004 and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in 2005 (photos). EMP has since retired this exhibit.

2003 – Associate Producer/Interview/Video Clip Contributor - VH1 television production, "When Disco Ruled the World."

2003 - Advisor/Promotion - ABC Family television show, "Dance Fever."

2004 - Advisor - Dance Music Hall of Fame

2004 - Associate Producer - PBS television's: "KC and the Sunshine Bands Presents: My Music: Get Down Tonight – The Disco Explosion."

2005 - Advisor - Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival salute to the movie, "Saturday Night Fever" - promotion.

2005 - Advisor/Video Clip Contributor - CBS "Sunday Morning" news show. Segment entitled: "Disco Daze."

2005 - Associate Producer/Interview/Video Clip Contributor - Passport Production’s disco documentary: "Disco: Spinning the Story."

Awards

1987 - "Untiring Service Award" from the Lincoln Philemon Fellowship.

1989 "Outstanding Service Award" from Prison Fellowship Ministries.

1989 - "Special Contributions Award" from the Spiritual Concerns Committee of San Bernardino County.

1992 - "Untiring Service Award" from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

1992 - "Hero Award" from the Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County.

2002 - "Dj Appreciation Award" - plaque received from various Buffalo, NY club Djs for being the first disco/club Dj in Buffalo, NY back in 1969-70.

2005 - "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the International Hustle and Salsa Competition (IHSC).

2011 - "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Legends of Vinyl, Inc.

2011 - "Special Recognition Award" from the Shadow Mountain Prison Ministry.
