Tata Marcopolo (officially Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd.) is a bus and coach manufacturing company headquartered in Dharwad, India and a joint venture between Tata Motors and Marcopolo S.A..

Operations

The primary bus manufacturing and building unit for Tata Marcopolo (TMML) started in Lucknow, with an output of 25 buses per day. The second unit of TMML is at Dharwad, Karnataka, whose output is presently 70 buses per day. In a few years, it is expected to double its production and become the largest unit in the world.

Sales

Tata Marcopolo products are currently being used or inducted in several Indian cities as part of the local transports fleet like Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mysore, Kolkata, Chennai, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Pune, South Kanpur, Kochi, Madurai, Hyderabad, Thane, Trivandrum, Vijayawada etc. It is a low-floor bus with both air conditioned and non air conditioned variants available.

Fires

There has been some issues with reliability, and a number of buses catching fire with following news stories and reasons such as, lack of maintenance and poor roads being sited, as well as possible electrical shorts. Most reports are inconclusive, however it appears follow increased checking the issue may now be under control.
