Shekhawat

Shekhawat is a clan of Rajputs in Rajasthan, India. The descendants of great warrior Rao Shekha Ji are called Shekhawat. The Shekhawats ruled over the Shekhawati region for over 500 yrs. Raja Raimal, Raja Raisal, Bhojraj ji, Thakur Shyam Singh Bissau are the prominent figures of this clan. Shekhawat is a very common name in Indian military services. Many of them have won gallantry awards including Param Vir Chakra, the highest Indian award for bravery in a time of war. CHM Piru Singh Shekhawat was one of the first winners of the Param Vir Chakra. Admiral Vijai Singh Shekhawat was the Chief of the Indian Navy. Currently, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, is the Vice-President of India.
