"Ornaments on the Way" is a one-page funny animal comic book gag story written, drawn, and lettered by Carl Barks. Characters in the story include Donald Duck, his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, Department Store Customers, and Department Store Clerks. The story was first published on the outside back cover of Four Color #203 (December 1948). The story has been reprinted several times since.[1]
Plot
Donald buys a Christmas tree in a department store, but the last boxes of ornaments have been sold. As Donald makes his way almost blindly through the crowd, he accidentally gathers the caps, eyeglasses, scarves and other personal items of store customers on the branches of the tree. At home, the nephews are delighted with the unusual ornaments.[2]
