Kriti Sanon (born July 27, 1990) is an Indian film actress and model.[4] After a successful modeling career, Sanon made her acting debut in Sukumar's psychological thriller film 1: Nenokkadine, a Telugu film opposite actor Mahesh Babu. She will be making her Hindi film debut opposite newcomer Tiger Shroff in Heropanti. Currently in post-production stages, the film is slated for a May 23, 2014 release.[5]
Early life and background
Kriti Sanon was born on July 27, 1990 in New Delhi, India to Rahul Sanon, a Chartered Accountant, and Geeta Sanon, an Associate Professor at Delhi University. She has one sibling, Nupur.[6] Sanon did her schooling from Delhi Public School, R.K Puram and completed Bachelor of Technology in Electronics, from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida.[7][8]
Sanon has appeared in various television commercials, endorsing brands like Close Up, Vivel, Amul, Samsung and Himalaya. She modeled for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2010, held in Mumbai. In 2012, she appeared in Chennai International Fashion week and India International Jewelry week. Sanon has also modeled for designers like Ritu Beri, Suneet Varma and Niki Mahajan.[9]
Acting career
Sanon made her acting debut in Sukumar's psychological thriller film 1: Nenokkadine (2014), a Telugu film opposite Mahesh Babu in which she played the role of Sameera, a news reporter.[10][11] Upon release, the film received mixed reviews from critics[12] and was declared an average grosser at the Indian box office and a blockbuster overseas.[13] For her performance however, Sanon garnered mainly positive reviews, with a Times Of India critic saying, "Kriti Sanon looks pretty and acts well enough to justify her role".[14] A critic at Deccan Chronicle wrote, "Kriti Sanon is the next best thing in the film. This debutante has acted like a veteran".[15] A reviewer at Sify.com however, though praised her for her beauty, was a bit more neutral of her overall performance, "Kriti Sanon looks gorgeous. For a newcomer, her performance is okay".[16]
Sanon will be making her Hindi film debut opposite newcomer Tiger Shroff in the romantic action drama film, Heropanti (2013), a remake of the 1983 film Hero.[17] Currently in post-production stages, the film is slated for release on May 23, 2014.[18]
