Sabra/Shatila introduction
Regarding the above article introduction, you undid my edits, citing formatting and content issues, and invited me to comment on the talk page. Since the edit summary does not permit a long enough explanation for you to really explain fully, I do not feel I can start a discussion because I do not understand the substance of you problems with my edit. I have therefore put my version back up (with an extra source). I would be happy to discuss the edit with you on the talk page if you would like to lay out your concerns more fully for me. COI tag on Golden rice
I thought that the "connected contributor" tag would be adequate explanation.
Please also see this listing at WP:COIN.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I'll watch your talk page for a couple of days in case you reply here, or you can leave me a message on my talk page, whatever you prefer. -- [ UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ]# ▄ 23:20, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hey Commandline
- re "I thought that the "connected contributor" tag" - It's a little hard for someone to make the connection between the COI tag at the top of the article and the COIN listing. Generally, if you're going to put aggressive tags on articles, it's good etiquette to leave talkpage explanations per Wikipedia:Tagging_pages_for_problems.
- Having glanced over the COIN discussion, some of the concerns your expressing appear legitimate. Could we not simply go through Golden Rice and eliminate any of the IRRI references Sophie put in? NickCT (talk) 12:21, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- If I'm not mistaken, she's actually done that already (uncharacteristically for PR folks, in my experience, but fine by me). I still think the connected contributor tag is worth keeping, but i expect she will request edits on talk pages from now on. -- [ UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ]# ▄ 12:24, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- re "she's actually done that already" - I'm not sure she has (though I haven't looked at this too deeply, so I may be mistaken). Sophie has been editing this page for a while. Take a look at these series of edits. As far as I can tell, all the references to IRRI currently on Golden rice can be attributed to Sophie. NickCT (talk) 12:30, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

- Ah. She did revert some of her content, and appears to be making an effort to interact more on the talk page. Perhaps replacing the COI tag is appropriate with a note on Talk about IRRI? -- [ UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ]# ▄ 21:04, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- I'd support that. But I'd also support just eliminating all mention of IRRI in the article. NickCT (talk) 01:30, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

- With all due respect, you're much more familiar with the article. I did make some attempt to remove some of the more egregious promotional content before she started doing that herself, but i'd rather leave content that might be useful up to people like yourself who edit or at least patrol the actual article. -- [ UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ]# ▄ 01:38, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Please comment on an RfC about Living members of deposed royal families and the titles attributed to them on WP
Hello - I have opened an RfC about suggested guidelines in the Manual of Style for articles about living members of families whose ancestors were deposed as monarchs of various countries and the titles and "styles" attributed to these living people, at the moment often in a misleading and inaccurate way in my opinion. Please join in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biographies "Use of royal "Titles and styles" and honorific prefixes in articles and templates referring to pretenders to abolished royal titles and their families"[1]Regards,Smeat75 (talk) 05:18, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Discussed on Talk Page?
I agree it was discussed here, but that went the other way. Where is the pro-"many" discussion, and does it also concern the wordy "stated that"? InedibleHulk (talk) 23:03, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
- Hey InedibleHulk,
- Thanks for the note. The conversation regarding the lead wording took place a couple years ago. There were several relevant discussions, but Talk:Fox_News_Channel/Archive_24#Some_critics_and_observers.3F might be the most relevant. I appreciate there are POV concerns here, but the last time consensus was tested on this issue, consensus seemed to be that "some observers" was not sufficiently reflective of the soruces. NickCT (talk) 02:11, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, didn't look that far back. Might be time to revisit the issue, given the more recent complaints raised in December 2012 and 2013, as well as Arzel's points about "many" being an unattributed weasel word in the discussion you linked (and in another from May 1, 2007). I'll leave your revert for the meantime. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:28, December 30, 2013 (UTC)
- Hey InedibleHulk,
- I'm not opposed to a revisit to see if consensus has changed. I'd prefer not to spearhead that, as this conversation if obviously one fraught with WP:POV issues and consternation.
- My position remains largely the same as 4 years ago. If you consult RSs on Fox New's political orientation, the gross gross (two gross's for emphasis) majority support the idea that it is conservatively orientated. Using "some observers" would seem as though it doesn't duly reflect that.
- Frankly, I think the language should be even stronger than it currently is.
- If you do want to spearhead a "revisit" here, I'd suggest it take the form of an RfC. Let me know if you want to work together on it. Be warned though, you should be prepared for shouting and WP:Wikidrama. Best, NickCT (talk) 13:59, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

An exciting month of wiki events!
Hello there,
I am pleased to say that April will be a very exciting month for Wikipedia in Washington, DC. We have a lot of different events coming up, so you will have a lot to choose from.
First, a reminder that our second annual Women in the Arts Edit-a-Thon will take place on Sunday, March 30 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Coming up in April, we have our first-ever Open Government WikiHack with the Sunlight Foundation on April 5–6! We are working together to use open government data to improve the Wikimedia projects, and we would love your help. All are welcome, regardless of coding or editing experience. We will also be having a happy hour the day before, with refreshments courtesy of the Sunlight Foundation.
On Friday, April 11 we are having our first edit-a-thon ever with the Library of Congress. The Africa Collection Edit-a-Thon will focus on the Library's African and Middle East Reading Room. It'll be early in the morning, but it's especially worth it if you're interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of African topics.
The following day, we are having our second annual Wiki Loves Capitol Hill training. We will discuss policy issues relevant to Wikimedia and plan for our day of outreach to Congressional staffers that will take place during the following week.
There are other meetups in the works, so be sure to check our meetup page with the latest. I hope to see you at some of these events!
All the best,
James Hare

I have entered a Dispute Resolution regarding the above cited Puerto Rican prisoner. I noted you also had concerns about the article. Your input could be helpful.
For now the question is simple: I state OLR was convicted of robbery, robbery is a violent crime, therefore, OLR convicted of a violent crime. The opposing side began with stating that OLR was never accused of violence, now they say he was never convicted of violence.Rococo1700 (talk) 21:53, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
This message is being sent to let you know of a discussion at the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute discussion you may have participated in. Content disputes can hold up article development and make editing difficult for editors. You are not required to participate, but you are both invited and encouraged to help find a resolution.
