Flame on
First, thx for the work on Blue Flame. I do have a concern about YouTube being a RS, tho, so if you can find something better, it'd be a good idea. That said, can I make some requests? One, I've read (but can't source) nitrogen is used in all racing tires; if you can source that, can you add it? Two, if you haven't already, will you weigh in on the "racing" debate on the LSR Talk page? Three, any help you can be at custom car, hot rod, or Hirohata Merc would be very welcome. - No worries mate, I just want to get the articles up to spec like you do. With the pressure and gas, there is a ref, number 11, with an interview with Pete Farnsworth https://infinityoverzero.wordpress.com/tag/pete-farnsworth/
- here is the text
- PETE: It was Ohio State University. We paid them to build the wind tunnel model to the aerodynamic specs and wind tunnel tested up to Mach 1.120. 1.15 I believe. It was around 850 miles an hour that they wind tunnel tested it to and structurally it was built to hit a half-inch steep bump at 1000 miles an hour. There was nothing out on the Salt Flats that high, although there were deviations and dips which we thought maybe would be a problem, but as it turned out the 350 pounds of nitrogen pressure in the tires, the tire moved itself out of the way, it just made ruts.
- So the tires were 350 pounds per square inch and they were filled with nitrogen?
- PETE: Yeah, they were built by Goodyear, designed by Mike Hopkins. ☭ irongron ☭ (talk) 21:47, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Trek, I've done a bit of preliminary digging around for you regarding Nitrogen in race cars and indeed it is true they all use it, as well as manufacturers of expensive and luxury cars. I have a friend in IRC who works for Mercedes Benz and he indeed did say that they use it and the main reason in passenger cars would be that it eliminates moisture from the insides of the tyre as you need to make a vacuum in the tyre before you inflate it and it boils off the water as the pressure changes. In race cars it would also be for better thermal distribution too. Anyway, that means I should be able to find you some decent refs regarding this. I'm still working behind the scenes to get the GG and BF articles up to spec. Will move onto the other requested articles you mentioned, just give me time. Live long and Prosper and Regards, Emir. ☭ irongron ☭ (talk) 22:15, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hey, thx for doing the looking. No hurry on the other pages, just looking to get a car guy on them for a change. :p Keep up the good work on Blue Flame, too. :D I am not Spock watch the ears, buddy 00:25, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
I hope that was the right one!

Heya Maury, thanks for weighing in on the part you did, it was political, but go to the top of the talk page --> ==OXCART codename==, tell me what you think about that proposal. Also, I've added a whole new bunch of paragraphs in the "New materials and production techniques" section. Feel free to chip away at it and tighten it up. I added a new paragraph after your changes at the intro to back up your changes. Teamwork always beats working alone! ;) ☭ irongron ☭ (talk) 13:41, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Removal of unsourced material from "SAM evasion over North Vietnam"
To whomever the anonymous editor was that removed that part, thanks, you did me a favour, as that statement was placed there recently by another editor and when I noticed the "citation needed" tags there I thought "Great, now that's another reference I have to go and find" as I normally would not ever add to any article willy nilly without a reference to backup the new paragraph or statement. I usually prefer to find refs to backup text before removing it. So thanks Mr Anonymous editor! I can now concentrate on completing the timeline. Any help with decently researched references would be appreciated! Regards, Emir ☭ irongron ☭ (talk) 08:37, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Watch Your Tone
You recently undid an edit to the SR-71 and left a snarky comment. The use of that tone is unproductive and lower than wikipedias bar of discourse. However the statement remains confusing as the grammar is horrendous. It states "....in order to remain fluid while operating at temperatures less than 40 °C (104 °F). What does that mean? It is vague. At what temperature less than 40 C? Or should it simply state: and contained a diluent to remain fluid at 40C? You figure it out but improve the grammar to be more clear. This would not fly in any tech manual the way it is stated.
P.S. I am just a recently retired U.S. military jet fighter engine mechanic and you?
- Your edit was absurd, check the references, they are from the CIA, before you make un-factual changes to the articles. You obviously never worked on the J-58. It means any temperature range below 40C, it's quite simple actually. ☭ irongron ☭ (talk) 01:33, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
- Never claimed to work on anything related to the obsolete A-12, SR-71 but your unprofessional snarky comments have told everyone about you. Obviously you have no military experience and are likely either very young or never matured past the teen years. Less than 40 C is non specific and is not how tech manuals are written. If you had real experience you would know that. Simply poorly copying data from the web without proper use of English is unproductive. Government specifications are well defined and are not ambiguous like less than 40C. I caught that glaring error and tried to improve the poorly copied data from another web site. It originally read below 40C. If you ask your English instructor they will clarify how to avoid ambiguous sentences for you. Any way try getting off the web a little and experience the world with real people so yo can gain some interpersonal skills.
- If you had of checked the references, which you didn't you would have seen it came straight from the CIA website that text, so go complain to them, not me, I was conveying the information as stated and you didn't catch an error, you failed to interpret what no one else had a problem with. You changed a +40c (correct) value AND MADE IT -40C!!!! and the F Value was the SAME, -40, THAT'S ABSURD!!!!!! Your time might be better spent contributing to the article Flameout as that article needs attention from an expert in aircraft, in particular a jet engine expert. That's right up your alley so before you dump on me for what other government agencies with bad grammatical skills wrote go and fix the (jet engine) flame-out article!! btw I speak 3 languages and can read and write in cyrillic, can you ? English was not my first language so back off and get over the fact that your edit was absurd as was your reaction to it, a man your age runs crying to the wiki admins. Grow up and show some more of that professionalism that you brag about when making half cocked edits without checking references or the facts and maybe you won't be offended when I revert your dodgey edits. It's that simple mate. ☭ irongron ☭ (talk) 07:17, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Another suggestion for improving wikipedia experience
Thanks for your work on the article for the last 2 weeks but be sure you understand wiki guidelines about claiming ownership of an article. Your tone indicates you attack those who edit an article you are working on. I have looked over your last 500 contributions and noticed you work on one article for an extended period. You have jumped on those who edit the article you are editting. That is going to happen and do not be offended by it or lash out against the editor. Some may never come back while others may end up reporting that behavior. I was annoyed by your snarky comments but understand there are many different personalities editing wiki. However unprofessional tone will often draw a similar response and possibly an edit war. I hope you give these remarks consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.56.11.29 (talk) 06:31, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
- He changed a value in the article that WAS absurd, he never checked the FACTS before he edited the article and he really didn't think about what he was doing, it was ABSURD!!! I don't claim ownership, I just want competent people WHO CHECK REFERENCES AND FACTS BEFORE MAKING CHANGES!!!! That's all. I offer the edits of Fnlayson as proof, if you check the history I've never reverted any of his changes as he always impoves on my text and when I wanted to change the article name to Lockheed A-12 Oxcart he disagreed along with another wiki user and the matter was settled in their favour. That's not the behaiviour of someone who "owns" articles. I resent being labeled a wiki nazi! ☭ irongron ☭ (talk) 06:57, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
