Jews in Macedonia
Hi, about your article Jews in Macedonia. Good job! I have news for you though - the history of the Jews in Aegean Macedonia is dealt with at Jews in Greece. Your article should be about the Jews in the Republic of Macedonia - this places Thessaloniki outside the scope of this article, so it will have to be removed and moved to Jews in Greece. This isn’t a problem, is it? --Tēlex 13:42, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

- Hi. i happened to see your discussion with Telex and your new article (well done by the way!:)...). i removed a section from it (i do not know if u are its author as well), about the Jews of Thessaloniki. it has no place in that article. Regards --Hectorian 16:26, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's an article about the Jews in the Republic of Macedonia, not an article about Jews in Macedonia (region). so, Thessaloniki has no reason to be there. neither with notes, nor footnotes, PSs or whatever... I would encourage u though, to write an article especially for the in the city i currently live:). --Hectorian 16:39, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- I really cannot understand... if u Google "jews"+"Macedonia", you will get many hits about Jews in Thessaloniki, cause Thessaloniki is the capital of the Greek Macedonia and had by far the largest jewish community in the region. this has nothing to do with the Republic of Macedonia. Apropos, the reader who would read the article Jews in the Republic of Macedonia, does not expect to read about the Jews of the whole region. it is irrelevant, and could imply nationalistic claims, that's why i will revert u. i am not accusing u of anything, of course... :) --Hectorian 17:08, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Haha, dear AWN2, you have started article with the Macedonia in the title, that is already enough for the Greek nationalists to tag it as POV. Lol. --Cigor 01:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, Vardar Macedonia=Republic of Macedonia. The name 'Vardar Macedonia ' mostly was used after the division of Macedonia in 1913. It refers to then Serb controlled portion of Macedonia. Vardar is the largest river there hence the name. The Bulgarian part was called Pirin Macedonia, named after Pirin mountain and the Greek controlled Macedona = Aegean Macedonia named after Aegean sea.
- Almost everything related to Macedonia is convoluted and disputed by at least two sides, sometimes more. Check Macedonia (terminology) for extra info if you are interested. --Cigor 13:14, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Jews in Serbia
Hello AWN2, although I am most certainly not an expert on either Judacia (Jewish History) or Serbian History, although i can tell you that Serbia played an important role in WWI and in WWII was an even more eager German puppet than Romania or Hungary and certainly contributed to crime agaisnt the Jews. Other than that, Serbia was a historical ally of the Czars... and god I'd hate to be Jewish there... of course, i'd hate to be in Serbia generally... but no worries... Incidentally, but request for a deletion wasn't based on context, but rather on the fact the article was empty....Cheers V. Joe 16:56, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

When the pact with colaboration with Hittler was made in Serbia people rioted with statements : "Bolje Rat nego pakt" - (Better War then Pact) and " Bolje Grob nego Rob" (better to be in a grave then to be a slave)
And that statement drew Serbia to war against Germany and Caused TREMENDEOUS sufferings and destruction to the state. How can you say that they were colaborators with Germans ??? Do you even have a slightest idea how many Serbs died in the WW2 ?
As for the Jews , Serbs and Danish helped them to SURVIVE by hiding them from German troops and by doing that they risked the lives of their own families and Serbs were happy to do that and would do the same thing again !!! And if you don't belive me then go to any Jewish comunity and ask them. (In Yad Vashem that is located in Israel are written names of Serbian people who helped them with the names of other people and nations)
I just can't understand how a person with such great ignorance and lack of historical facts would even dare to write articels as this and not only that you aren't an expert , you know nothing of this matter and everything that I have stated are historical facts that can be and are confirmed.
[Serb]
- Dear [Serb]
- I agree with you. To say that Serbia collaborated with Nazi Germany in WWII is a gross distortion of history: it is a lie. That Serbia was anti-Nazi and helped its Jewish communities is well documented. I do not agree with V. Joe's comments, and they are not supported by the historical record. I am not sure about Serbia/Germany in WWI, but it is certainly irrelevant from the point of view of WWII, and I am not familiar with any systematic or official Serbian anti-Semitism in WWI. Serbia in WWI
Remember that it was a Serbian nationalist who assasinated Franz Ferdinand and ignited the deluge. The breakup of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and the resultant chaos of WWII can be laid on Serbian nationalism. If WWI had started later, things might be very different... Good for a Harry Turtledove kinda thought... Cheers V. Joe 18:10, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- A thought (Serbia and WWI)
Have fun with that, i cannot say I am an expert in the history of the Balkans or of Austria-Hungary. I know the basics, and can tell you that Serbia only managed to keep its independence by reliance on Russia... Cheers 16:08, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Amos Yarkoni
Thank you, thank you, AWN! The article looks great. You wouldn't happen to know if there is any truth to what I mentioned on the talk page in response to NL-Ninane, would you? Thanks so much for your work. -Fsotrain09 15:36, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- I definitely think it should be mentioned, as it is a significant incident concerning him that adds to his notability. Reliable sources will need to be found that support the incident, and the version of events that is held up by the most credible sources should be put forward. And last but certainly not least, it is preferable that the sources be written in English. -Fsotrain09 02:24, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hi AWN2. I read through the article again, and three things jumped out at me. One, there is too much detail in the lead – his lineage/tribal connections should be incorporated into the Early Years section, and just briefly mentioned in the lead. The lead of a biography is for establishing notability of a subject, and also summarizing the entire article. Second, the references are good, but there need to be more inline citations for many of the statements made. Can a source be found, for example, recording the "war stories" of Yarkoni's skills which are mentioned in the article? Lastly, the article just needs a through read through for proper English usage. I caught a few redundant or ambiguous phrasings, but more eyes would help with that process. But all in all, you have done very excellent work on this article. -Fsotrain09 03:23, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Jews in BiH
Hi. I am aware of Bosnian Muslim participation in NDH state, but 100 000 is well overrated, and source for me isn't that reaible, but whatever. We all know that Muslim clerics at the begining of war in Yugoslavia declared that they don't support Nazi ideology and their occupation. I will try hard to get numbers for Partisans, as much of the Bosnian streets after the WW2 were named after national heros with much of them being Bosnian Muslims. --HarisM 15:23, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Beaufort lebanon.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Beaufort lebanon.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Well, that saves me the hassle and procrastination, thanks. The whole table repeated like I had was a bit silly, which was why I didn't put it directly in the article, but I hadn't bothered to fix it up yet. Nice to know someone else noticed it, too. -Bbik 03:25, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Kosovo: country debate
Hello. There's a discussion going on Talk:List of countries as to whether or not Kosovo should be included in that list. You have an interest in Serbia-related articles and I thought you might be interested. The articles List of countries and Annex to the list of countries (where the inclusion criteria reside) are both relevant. Cheers. DSuser 13:34, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi again. It's probably a minor point, but there a discussion and vote going on at Talk:Kosovo#Kosovo:_terminology as to whether or not it's better to use Kosovo rather than Kosovan or Kosovar in the Wikipedia articles. Perhaps you have no interest, in which case sorry to bother you! DSuser 15:48, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Macedonia project
I agree with you that the subject could definitely bear having a project maintain the related articles. I would call to your attention that the new Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe already has work groups to deal with Albania and Slovenia, and could fairly easily add one for Macedonia as well. While this might not be the best alternative, the clear presence, if not active involvement, of the editors from the larger project and other taskforces would probably be seen as being a factor which would help to establish the absolute neutrality of the group. Just an idea, anyway. John Carter 17:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Mac. Wikiproject
Greetings AWN, I'm not sure if it was such a good idea to recreate the project this quickly. You are aware that you are nominally in breach of the MfD/DRV decision by doing so, right? It means that in principle, any admin could come any moment now and speedy-delete it (per WP:CSD G4). I personally won't dot that now, because I respect your effort, I'm just saying. Maybe we can just give it a try anyway and see how it develops. In any case, while this exists, I guess you can count me in, what with all the Macedonian disputes I've been dealing with recently. :) Fut.Perf. ☼ 15:07, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, if you take the position that your re-creation actually constitutes the "new management", I guess that could serve as an argument. But if I were you, I'd at least notify the admins who were involved in closing the MfD and DRV. Fut.Perf. ☼ 15:30, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I see you're very eager about the WP ROMacedonia, pretty weird though :D I've also noticed you don't understand (or speak) any Macedonian (user mk-0), so, if that presents a problem when you're editing Macedonia-related articles or the like, or you just want to learn something new, feel free to poke at me, I'll teach you anything you want (I'm referring to the language of course). Hey, it's free of charge! :D iNkubusse? 17:45, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Macedonian alphabet
Hi AWN. I saw your sandbox article for the Macedonian alphabet and it is very good. The only problem I have is with all this new information it may become yet another battleground between Macedonians and Bulgarians. Not even the Russian alphabet article is this long - there seems to be too much history for such a recent alphabet. It also talks about the controversies and the background of the alphabet - which is basically about the Macedonian language. The specialized letters section is quite well done and so are the introduction and committee sections. You may have seen that I moved the Macedonian cursive script article into the Macedonian alphabet article because there is no need for two articles on the same alphabet. When you create that section, you may want to highlight the differences with writing Т and П compared to standard Cyrillic (see Cyrillic alphabet#Letter-forms and typography). You may also want to make a short reference to Romanisation of Macedonian somewhere. Have fun! Alex 202.10.89.28 (talk) 00:25, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think Laveol may be a good idea - he has contributed well to some articles. But I just don't want 5 paragraphs of claims of Serbianisation like in Bulgarian views on the Macedonian language.
- There is one change I suggest for the article. On looking at the first controversy section again, you wrote "most linguists consider standard Macedonian and standard Bulgarian to be two dialects of the same language (rather than Macedonian being a dialect of Bulgarian)". This is technically incorrect as most linguists consider them two languages of the same diasystem.
- And something that should be considered for the committee controversy section (regarding the schwa): Most languages have a schwa - I'm pretty sure that all Slavic languages do, and English does as well - but they either don't have a separate letter for it (English), or don't write it at all (Slavic languages are known for complex consonant clusters but Bulgarian has less complex clusters- compare Serbian and Russian "Србски" or "Српски" with Bulgarian "Сърбски". So I don't know how far Bulgarianisation or Serbianisation claims could have went.
- You are right in saying the length of the article isn't an issue - I'm just surprised there is such a lack of information on other alphabet articles.
- I will try and help as much as I can with differences compared to Standard Cyrillic (especially with handwriting and italics - the information in the Cyrillic alphabet page is not completely correct) once you are finished with the cursive script.
- Anyway, happy editing! Alex 202.10.89.28 (talk) 03:20, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

hi AWN, I just saw your comments on my talk page, I don't frequent wikipedia much nowadays, after coming head to head with the mule-like obstinacy of some Bulgarian editors here, as well as with (what I perceive as) the ego problems of a certain wikipedia administrator. I am, of course, still glad to lend a hand, so please drop me a line anytime you need something. I wrote my comment on the BG/MK guideline, and will review the MK alphabet article in the next day or so.

Macedonian alphabet sandbox
I read over the article and it seems to be pretty good. I made of couple of minor changes. One thing I would add is more examples with the accentuated letters i and e, (i cannot think of any examples with the o avec chapeau), but I don't have macedonian installed on this computer. Otherwise it looks great. why are the pictures missing though?

- Je sui d'accord avec Alex. Il n'y a aucune une telle lettre sur mon clavier cyrillien macédonien. The rephrasing you've done to my additions looks fine. Here are few examples of accentuated i: мајка ѝ (her mother), татко ѝ (her father). I don't think it matters in which direction the 'grave' is oriented.

Hey AWN, can you help with this page? Considering you have full knowledge of Arabic script and pretty good IPA knowledge, I was wondering if you could help with a table - Arabic, Cyrillic and IPA characters. Hey AWN, it's Alex (202.10.89.28). I just wanted to know if you think we can place the content from your sandbox into the Macedonian alphabet article. - Thanks. One thing I have noticed though is the page links to Macedonian language and Krste Misirkov a few too many times. I will try to cut down on the links when I have time. Cheers. BalkanFever 23:18, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've made a few comments on the article and put two fact - tags. That's all I have to contest. --Laveol T 12:10, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Hey AWN, I'm trying to develop the project further. Take a look here and here and tell me what you think. We might need to remodel the Project page though, because the template won't be able to fit in the two-column format that is being used now. Cheers, BalkanFever 11:57, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. I have to say I don't know much about tables or frames (I just copy code from something similar and then tweak it a bit :)). Putting the template in it's own frame or making a larger frame/table to show off all the templates might be good - we can place it at the bottom of the page or something. The assessment is intended to be a subpage that we link to. Decision on the project page format will be left for you, I'm quite happy to go with whatever you think will work. I'll create the actual pages when I'm ready and tell you when everything can be placed on the project page, and you can take it from there. After that, I'm going to start assessing articles, which may take a while because most will be B-class or Start-class (apparently there's a difference) and I'm not great at judging importance.
Feel free to edit the assesment (sic) subpage if you think more clear criteria are needed. Cheers, BalkanFever 10:01, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. Having two Christmases is great :D. I created the template and the subpage, and am recreating the categories, although I don't know if they will work properly. You can take a look when you have time ;). I will assess some articles now. BalkanFever 13:41, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey AWN, I have succeeded in getting rid of the columns - go to the history of the page. It doesn't look great though. Anyway, I'm ready when you are. The template, with working links can be found here and the assessment subpage has been created, but the criteria leave something to be desired ;). I didn't plan to just go ahead and create them like I did, but oh well...:D. BalkanFever 10:33, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey AWN. You can do it right now :D. I think the assessment page should be linked to, and briefly explained/summarised on the WikiProject page, but not completely copied. Also, I think the template {{WPMKD}} should be shown somehow, probably in the same frame: Article Assessment. Thanks for the work you've done! BalkanFever 07:20, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- It should be ready when you get back. Cheers. BalkanFever 07:40, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- OK. You can just copy-paste from here. At some point, the active members of this project (all three of us :)) should talk about assessment criteria for articles to make it easier. Cheers. BalkanFever 09:46, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi AWN, thanks for the edits! It looks better like that :). I was thinking of adding a DO NOT ADD section on the template page, under the parameters and listing articles like Alexander the Great and Tsar Samuil, because they only fuel edit wars. Anyway, we can do that later. For now, I think we can go live. Again, thanks! BalkanFever 13:11, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, AWN! The page looks great. In the next few days, I think we should be focused on pages that are in the scope of the project, rather than aren't. Especially in regards to the importance scale.... which I must admit I didn't really understand :). I think the active members should have a discussion on the project talk page or something - which is why I held off adding the template (without assessment) to every possible article. BTW, "Congratulations" is Честито, because Честитки means "cards" (the Christmas or Birthday kind) - either way, I know what you meant ;). In the end, the credit must go to you though, you started the project - twice! Cheers, BalkanFever 14:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Lol you really are mk-0 :D
Hey AWN, that translation has declension, which we Macedonians despise ;-), so it looks very much like Serbian to me. I can think of three ways to translate it in Macedonian
- Федерација на Еврејски Заедници на Југославија. literally "Federation of Jewish Communities of Yugoslavia",
or
- Југословенска Федерација на Еврејски Заедници. literally "Yugoslavian Federation of Jewish Communities",
or
- Федерација на Југословенски Еврејски Заедници. literally "Federation of Yugoslavian Jewish Communties"
They all convey the same thing to me, but if you think one is better than the others, by all means use that. Нема проблем (no problem) BalkanFever 03:51, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Federation of Jewish Communities of Yugoslavia
Hi. I think the correct name was Zveza judovskih skupnosti Jugoslavije; but Zveza jugoslovanskih judovskih skupnosti is also possible. Viator slovenicus (talk) 16:45, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Macedonian Premier Leagues
Shalom (I hope that means Hello/Goodbye/Peace) AWN. In regards to the top-tier football and basketball leagues in Macedonia, I think we should name them Macedonian Premier League (football) and Macedonian Premier League (basketball) respectively, and create a dab page. "Macedonian Prva Liga" is not correct English, or correct Macedonian, for that matter. What are your thoughts? Cheers, BalkanFever 04:58, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Hebrew info :-)! I think the best course of action for the rename would be just to move the articles to the locations, keeping the edit history intact, rather than creating the locations and transferring data. Otherwise it will seem like me or you created the article in one fell swoop - I'm referring to the football article of course, because you did actually create the basketball article (Great work BTW :-)!). This actually brings me to my next point: when you finish the Macedonian alphabet article in your sandbox, you can ask an admin to merge the histories, so that all your contributions can be seen in the history. And any article that you create in your userspace, which doesn't exist in the encyclopaedia proper (yet), can just be moved to save your contributions, and the redirects can be deleted or replaced with other work. BalkanFever 05:36, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Re your PPS, I meant that mixing languages in one phrase is incorrect. I agree with you that "Premier league" is the way to go, at least for now. If someone else thinks "first league" is better, then we can discuss it then. Cheers, BalkanFever 05:42, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Macedonian Premier League (disambiguation) is redundant, unless Macedonian Premier League exists as an article or redirect to an article. Other than that, it's great. I'll take care of it all shortly. BalkanFever 06:33, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hey AWN! I think I've finally finished everything ;-)! It took a while, but it's all good now. Unless I've missed something....:). Cheers, BalkanFever 07:13, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Macedonian Premier League (basketball), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Macedonian Premier League. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 05:58, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Maccabi Tel Aviv (basketball) past rosters
An editor has nominated Maccabi Tel Aviv (basketball) past rosters, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maccabi Tel Aviv (basketball) past rosters and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 11:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Mk alphabet committee nov1944.png
Thank you for uploading Image:Mk alphabet committee nov1944.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:55, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Easter
Thanks, but it's not Easter yet :) --Laveol T 18:29, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Pardon the butting in :), but yes, it is Friday-Monday. Maybe Laveol was referring to today merely being Wednesday or something. It's also ANZAC day here on Friday, and you have Passover (what is the specific greeting for that?). Cheers, BalkanFever 04:39, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Macedonian Latin alphabet
I came to the same conclusion when I probed into the issue a little while ago. The user's reaction says it all. --Hegumen (talk) 13:45, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hey AWN, I personally don't know where to go with it. I haven't learnt g' or k' (acute accents), but I'm not in Macedonia so I can't really comment on that. Maybe ask our resident linguist Fut. Perf. and see what he thinks about it. Your arguments do seem pretty compelling though. BalkanFever 09:27, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
