The Muslim Educational Society (MES) is an organisation established to aid education of Muslims in India, especially in the state of Kerala.[2]
History
The MES was founded in 1964 at Kozhikode (then Calicut) by Dr. P. K. Abdul Gafoor.[2] Gafoor's son Dr. P. A. Fazal Gafoor, a graduate of Osmania University, is the society's president; he was elected to his position in March 2007 for a three-year term in the first elections in the MES' history.[1][3] He took up his position in August 2007 following the death of his father in hospital at age 72.[3][4]
