Poiwan is a Village in the Aurangabad district of Bihar in India.[1] The population is around 2,600 people[2] in which around 8% are Muslims.[citation needed]

Agriculture has been the primary business until recently. Several agro mills are there for packaging and supplying of Rice and wheat. But a liquor factory is in construction which will began production in 2014.

History : Poiwan is a very old village which states that this village is existed in 17th century. A wriiten record of which is kept in this village only. It is said that first a muslim Zamindaar( Small king) is ruling this village once upon a time . After that four Kshatriya (warrior Clan) brothers came from mainpur district of Rajasthan to claim this village with the help of another local Hindu zamindaar. Two of them died in that battle which they won finally. After that this village remains a hindu dominated village.

Places To see : There is an old small Fort in village . A temple , A Large water resorvoir is also in this village which is used for fishing and water supply in summer season.

Eduaction : there is a government high school in this village . After that students have to go to nearby city and district headquarters Aurangabaad for higher eduaction

Notable Persons : 1. Anugrah Narayan Sinha[3] ( Bihar Vibhuti) , freedom fighter , statesman , congressman .struggle for independence along with Mahatma Gandhi.

2. Satyendra singh[4] a.k.a Chote saheb. ex chief minister of bihar. statesman, parliament member.

3. Nikhil kumar.[5] IPS officer. DGP of delhi for a while. ex-governer of Nagaland and Kerela states of india. Member of parliament ,
