Representative history of the Ohio Senate
The Ohio Senate has elected members from 33 Districts since 1967. Currently, each district consists of approximately 345,000 Ohioans.
1st District
The 1st District has historically been located in northwestern Ohio, and currently consists of the counties of Hancock, Hardin, Putnam, Henry, Williams, Defiance, Paulding, and Van Wert and portions of the counties of Fulton, Logan, and Auglaize. It has a Cook PVI of R+9.

The 2nd District has been located in northwestern Ohio and currently stretches along the Great Lakes. Currently the district consists of the counties of Erie, Ottawa and Wood as well as portions of the counties of Fulton and Lucas. It has a Cook PVI of D+2.
The district was represented by the Senate President from 1981 to 1982 and from 1985 to 1988 with Senator Paul Gillmor.

The 3rd District used to span vast portions of central Ohio from the Miami Valley to the Scioto Valley, but currently encompasses approximately a third of Franklin County. It has a Cook PVI of D+1.
The district was represented by Ted Gray from 1951 to 1994, the longest tenure of any member of the Ohio Senate.[8]
