Watchmen is a film adaptation to the Hugo Award winning graphic novel of the same name. Long in development hell, several directors including Terry Gilliam, Darren Aronofsky and Paul Greengrass have attempted to make the film with stars including Robin Williams, Sigourney Weaver, Ron Perlman, Hillary Swank, and Jude Law, with screenplays by Sam Hamm and David Hayter.

IN 2006, Warner Bros. Studios was in negotiations with Zack Snyder to direct. The screenplay was written by David Hayter of Metal Gear Solid fame, writer of X-Men and co-writer of X2: X-Men United.

On 23rd June 2006 it was confirmed by Warner Bros. Studios that Zack Snyder would direct the adaptation of Watchmen. Alex Tse is rewriting the script.
