The Albion Hotel in Cottesloe, Western Australia is a historic building, trading as a hotel since the year 1880.

The site was established by the Butler Brothers, John and Archabald in 1830 and the current hotel has traded under various names in its 130 years as a public house.

Early history

In 1864 Thomas Ernest Briggs paid 10 pounds for the "Swan Location 349" it is unclear whether Briggs erected a new building or made amendments to an existing structure on the site, although many convict-era colonist writings make reference to building on the Albion site in the mid to late 1860s. Records show that Briggs applied for a publican license in 1872.

In 1907 the Hotel was up for tender for purchase from Mrs Alice Bullen [1]

In 1912 the license was changed from Norman Ferres to Frederick Treadgold [2]

The pub safe was stolen in June 1929 [3] and in 1930, men were charged for using an adjacent vacant block as a betting place <ref>"BETTING CHARGES". Sunday Times (Perth, WA : 1902 - 1954). Perth, WA: National Library of Australia. 4 May 1930. p. 4. Retrieved 27 May 2014.
