Mae West was an actress in the early days of "talkies", or motion pictures with soundtracks. She was the prototypical femme fatale. Perhaps her best known role was opposite W. C. Fields in the movie My Little Chickadee.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 17, 1893, and died November 22, 1980. She was early-on a vaudeville child star, and soon started starring in risque plays of her own writing. Her first role as a film star was in 1932, in She Done Him Wrong.
