Is it right to add such Allegations/Controversies on a biography when nothing has been proved yet.
In the section Controversies there are two different allegations 1. 2G Spectrum Scam and Contempt of Court & 2. Securities and Exchange Board of India Ban
Both cases are still under judiciary and nothing has been proved yet. In contempt of the court case Senior Advocate K K Venugopal said on behalf of the CBI that: “Evidence found till now is insufficient” Reference: http://post.jagran.com/2g-case-cbi-examines-radia-others-in-allegation-against-sahara-1310403191 . In case of SEBI ban, Supreme Court of india on 15th July 2011 granted a stay on market regulator SEBI’s order of June 23, 2011 that ordered Sahara Group companies to return the money raised through optionally fully convertible debentures (OFCD). Reference: http://profit.ndtv.com/news/show/sc-directs-sahara-to-approach-sat-against-sebi-order-on-ofcds-164375
So according to me it is unfair to write about these Allegations/Controversies on a biography when nothing has been proved yet. I would like to request all contributors to put your views forward on this issue.--Mukulsaurabh (talk) 04:59, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
I have been following both the cases and am also the major contributor to the said article. In my opinion, both the cases mentioned under section Controversies are still in court of law and has not been proven, hence at this point including the section to the biography will be unfair to the person whose biography is this. Experience
In the page it says he started his journey with Sahara in 1978 ie he was only 30yrs old at that time. Further the same section comments that at that point he had an experience of 32yrs in Business Development. To me it seems like a typo, can someone correct that?115.254.25.18 (talk) 16:09, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Page protection
I've now protected this article. I've also rolled back the most recent edit. This is NOT to say that the version that I've put it on is an 'approved' version, but the last edit, though containing some sources, was more likely to breach WP:BLP and WP:UNDUE. You need to find a balance between not reporting it at all, and completely overloading the article. GedUK 12:09, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

1 -The person's religion is unsourced. As per WP:CAT/R, Categories regarding religious beliefs of a living person should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief in question, either through direct speech or through actions like serving in an official clerical position for the religion. So the category "Indian Hindus" should be removed and the Ethnicity in Infobox should be changed to "Bengali".
2 - The honorific Sri in front of his father's name Sudhir Chandra Roy in the Early life sub-section should be removed. Thanks --Neelkamala (talk) 11:27, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Controversy
Hello, I'm Anup and I've boldly deleted the controversy section. The controversy section included these texts,
The wedding of his sons Seemanto Roy and Sushanto Roy, held during February, 10-14, 2004 in Sahara, Lucknow, is said to have cost $128 million, one of the most expensive ever.[1][2]
Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy was on Friday sent to police custody till March 4, 2014 hours after he was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police.
Mr. Roy surrendered before the police on Friday morning, two days after the Supreme Court issued a non-bailable warrant against him for failing to refund Rs. 20,000 crore to investors.
- I'm not sure, how the first line could be declared a controversy, anybody explain? "The wedding of his sons Seemanto Roy and Sushanto Roy, held during February, 10-14, 2004 in Sahara, Lucknow, is said to have cost $128 million, one of the most expensive ever." It is absolutely an original research to be a controversy (Check references above). Hence removed.
- The later part is deleted for WP:BLPCRIME cause. Discuss it here if anybody feels the contents removed by me, should be re-instated (Please review WP:BLPCRIME & WP:STRUCTURE first). Anupmehra -Let's talk! 18:01, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello. As the person who frequently restored the controversy section I thought I should comment. Thank you Anup for pointing out those things and taking action. Now I am aware of the crime policy etc. I would like to agree with the removal you have made. Thanks again, BethNaught (talk) 18:47, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Great Patriotic person
Even if Subrata Roy [3] today finds himself in police custody for failing to turn up in the Supreme Court on 26 February, 2014 as ordered due to his mother's illness, many people who are closely related to him has been wondering about what has happened suddenly. They are right to wonder. After all, Sahara chief Subrata Roy [4] has been one of the most ubiquitous brands on the Indian firmament, sponsoring the cricket team, hobnobbing with top Bollywood stars and top politicians, and all. Not only this he has played a vital role in upliffiting many needy and poor people's life. He helped people in Kargils. Also, his role played at the time of Uttrakhand disaster was also appreciable. The man also wraps himself in the flag of nationalism and claims to be a well-wisher of Bharat Mata.
Unfortunately, his good work is not being talked about and what is being shown in the media about him is negativism," Fardeen Khana the popular Bollywood actor said "a man was innocent until proven guilty so Subrata Roy should be given a chance to defend himself".
I want to remove the Controversy section from this page and want to add a new section named as "Great Patriotic person" that is based on the reality. I believe that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that deals with the facts about a thing or a person. And here neither I am in favor of this person or against him but adding some useful and factual things about him that I read in media. The Controversy section seems to be more violent towards Subrata Roy rather than giving a news or information to us. After reading this section I didn't get negative towards Subrata Roy as I was aware about this case before via media. But I found that if someone else who has no idea about this case before might get confuse or get against subrata roy. Here on Wikipedia we get the information that is useful for us either it is negative or positive. After seeing this controversy section one might not get aware about the good deeds of the subrata roy. If we want to give an information to people then it must be complete not only positive or negative. So, I believe that this Controversy section must be remove and mine section written above must be added. Also, I believe that a category named Crime in Uttar Pradesh on this page should also get remove as I didn't found it a crime. Its a running case and hence one should respect the emotions of other. This category may create a lot of disturbance in this state so I believe it should also get remove. Crime in itself is very major word.

- Partly done: The existing Controversy section looks to be well-sourced and backed up by the article at Sahara India Pariwar - Investor fraud case, and appears to me to comply with WP:NPOV and simply reports the events that have occurred. I have not added your suggested text as I don't see sources to back it up (the Financial Express source didn't really help your case, and the First Post source crashed my browser multiple times when I tried to open it), and it strikes me as not written encyclopedically at all, including puffery and weasel words. If it's not being covered in the media and there are no sources to support it, then it can't be included in the Wikipedia article either. The one part of your request that I have taken care of is removing the Crime in Uttar Pradesh category, in accordance with WP:BLPCRIME. Thanks! --ElHef (Meep?) 14:16, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Hello Admin,
The section "Controversy" contains a phrase "Main article "Sahara India Pariwar - Investor fraud case"". According to me the word fraud cannot be used with anyone or on anyone's page without any confirmation. Its an illegal activity. As per I know its a running case and yes the court them self has said that they have taken the sahara chief subrata roy in police custody to ensure that sahara group give them the money. So, whats the need of using fraud with someone's name or in someone's case. Even the court is unable to prove that subrata roy has done something wrong then why we have mentioned this thing in this page. This way it is giving wrong impression to folks. Not only this the line "On 26 February 2014, the Supreme Court of India ordered the arrest of Subrata Roy for failing to appear before it in connection with the Rs.24,000-crore deposits his company has not refunded to its investors." seems to be invalid and forcefully saying that subrata roy did fraud with its investors. Yes Sebi has filed a case against subrata roy in court but where are the investors on whose behalf sebi is talking? Sebi is just a mediator between subrata roy and its investors as per sebi said. If there are such investors then sebi must bring them in the court. Without any evidence even the Wikipedia didn't allow anyone to do any changes then how can subrata roy pay this much of amount to sebi without any prior proof that yes there are some investors who claimed that sahara did fraud with them. No there are no such investors. For reference please refer the link http://businesstoday.intoday.in/story/why-sebi-is-unable-to-track-sahara-investor-to-refund-money/1/205390.html. I hope my way of explaining to you has cleared that the fraud word must not be used on this page and must be remove. Also, the Controversy section must be remove as there is not controversy is in this case. If subrata roy is wrong then at the same place sebi is also wrong because the main evidence that is the investors are missing and if an investor has approached sebi then where are they? So, we cannot say anything in this case except waiting for the court's judgement. There might be chance that subrata roy is wrong but it has not been proved yet. So, neither I am saying sebi is wrong nor subrata roy. I believe that instead of being in favor of either sebi or sahara chief subrata roy we should not write anything about anyone on Wikipedia. Thanks.
