UK Singles Chart Listing

Madonna's new single has already debuted on the UK Singles Chart at #73 on its first week, as confirmed by acharts.us El Cangri386 01:16, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Charting

Can anyone explain why there is already chart entries. I can understand the song may appear on listings for amounts of downloads, but official singles charts are only counted for songs where the record label has notified the chart that the song has been officially released. So before official release, it should not be appearing in singles charts. JKW111 (talk) 12:49, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not for sure about this, but I refreshed my memory of how Billboard does this in the US by reading the Billboard Hot 100 page. If I understand it, so long as the track is in the top 75 on the airplay chart, even if it's just an album cut, it's eligible to chart. Since there's nothing preventing a radio station from playing any song they want, or stopping people from downloading what they want, I don't think the label has as much say in it as it used to. Didn't a bunch of songs from High School Musical all chart on the Hot 100 at the same time within the last few years? Fortunately I'm drawing a blank on that, but I just wanted to see if I could answer this for you in regards to Madonna. If I'm wrong, somebody correct me. No problem, glad to help. Zephyrnthesky (talk) 06:04, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Should there be a note somewhere that upon physical release on the 14th of July in the UK, the single has only managed to go at No.17? It's one of the lowest ever entries for her there. While the digital release was higher apparently (missed it then), this is still noteworthy, quite shocking... Dollvalley (talk) 10:41, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Physical Release Date??!?

What's going on with madonna's new single? whenever i open the radio i hear 4 minutes (it was annoying actually, they played for minutes so many times that i got sick of it, its like they are in love with the song)... but recently the radio plays give it me alot... BUT I CANT FIND THE SINGLE ANYWHERE!!! is EVER going to be released as a single or WHAT!! i'm sick of those wierd games that the music industry plays... they release the single 2 months later so that the song will debut within the top 20... anywhay is there gonna be any single and when... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mysterious Spy (talkcontribs) 13:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Download versions

At least on amazon.com there are countless edits and versions that are oddly (for a Madonna page) missing here. How come? Dollvalley (talk) 00:55, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

United World Chart

I have just looked at the United World Chart and it has so far peaked at #8 so if someone wants to put it in the chart section... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.70.33.244 (talk) 14:41, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Single Sales versus Hot 100

Can anyone comment on the fact that though the single has not performed well on the Hot 100, it has consistently been at #3 in singles sales for several weeks as of early September? Show that the song is very popular even though radio is ignoring it. Also shows that the Hot 100 is rather out of touch...71.7.233.69 (talk) 18:19, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

'Give It 2 Me is a upbeat dance song[5] featuring a cute, bouncy beat and Pharell Williams' trademark funky sound.[6] - Who is calling it an upbeat dance song, an who is calling it cute? You need to mention the writer or publication making these claims, since they are opinions. Do the same for all of that section. — R2 06:16, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've copy edited it, I'm going in the shower now. When I return I'll check the references. — R2 07:12, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Finish Chart

I think it is notable to say that the single just made a re-entry at 4!! [1] --12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 11:45, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
