The discography of the American alternative rock band Linkin Park consists of five studio albums, two remix albums, six soundtracks, five live albums, five compilation albums, fifteen extended plays (EPs), twenty-eight singles, eleven video albums and thirty-six music videos.
Linkin Park was formed in Agoura Hills, California in 1996 by Mike Shinoda (vocals and guitars), Brad Delson (guitar) and Rob Bourdon (drums). Joe Hahn and Dave Farrell were later recruited, and in 1999 Chester Bennington became a member.[1][2]
Linkin Park rose to international fame in 2000 with their debut album Hybrid Theory, which peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200. It was the seventh best-selling album of the 2000s,[3] and certified Diamond in US and quadruple platinum in Europe.[4] The fourth single from the album, "In the End", peaked at the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (the highest of Linkin Park's career), and stayed on the chart for 38 weeks.[5] With first-week sales of 810,000,[6] Linkin Park's second album Meteora (2003) entered the Billboard 200 at number one, becoming the third-best-selling album of the year.[7]
In 2007, their third studio album, Minutes to Midnight, also debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200, selling 623,000 copies in its first week.[8] A Thousand Suns (2010) became the third straight Linkin Park studio album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200, but its first-week sales were less than half of its predecessor—240,000 copies.[6][9] They followed up with Living Things, released in 2012 selling 223,000 copies in its first week and becoming their fourth studio album to debut at the top. The band has also release one platinum-certified remix album—Reanimation (2002) and one platinum-certified EP-Collision Course (2004)—the latter a chart-topping collaboration with rapper Jay-Z, 2 live albums-Live in Texas and Road to Revolution: Live at Milton Keynes.
Linkin Park had sold over 60 million albums worldwide by 2012 and over 20 million in the US alone,[10] and has won two Grammy Awards for their singles "Crawling" and "Numb/Encore".[11][12] The band has produced eleven number-one singles on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart,[13][14] and is the second-ever act to have at least ten weeks with three or more tracks on that chart.[15] Linkin Park Underground, the band's official fan club, annually releases EPs with rare tracks, demos, live recordings and remixes.[16]
