Have you ever despaired over your incompetence at providing solid entertainment to even your group of lame friends, let alone thousands of followers? Have you ever felt the weight of the world on your shoulders as you become increasingly aware of everyone’s growing expectations — from your fandom composed of about 30,000 people? No, of course you haven’t. That’s because you aren’t Model Arif Khan. Model Arif Khan, the ultimate entertainer in a tight red t-shirt, slick white pants and shades, is what the world needs to remember that entertainment has many faces. And his newest treat to the world, in the name of a music video, for a song named ‘Marhaba’ is a face that deserves to be reviewed and talked about. Model Arif Khan claims to be a professional director, model and actor on his Facebook page and has been known to promote his modeling skills on the website with a number of female models and bold moves. He has recently let his glorious acting, dancing, modeling and romancing skills be the saving act for a terrible song that starts with, “Show me mercy and open your face-mask (niqab); I’d like to see your shy face.” The song is terrible, to say the least. It’s the demon-child of auto-tune. That explains why he must be wearing those headphones in the video too — to avoid the misery. It’s possible that he might have been listening to something else from those headphones while shooting the video. Because otherwise, I don’t see any explanation for why he and his lady were strumming fancily on a guitar when the flute was playing in the song. This is nothing compared to the entirety of the video though. It’s unique in its own way. It’s a story of passion, love, and stolen kisses behind bushes and among massive grass flowers. The graphics are from another era completely, reminding us of the billions of family wedding videos that were made by the studios making use of our family members as models on low budget. The love depicted here must be of the purest form, because the lady-in-love finds peaceful slumber only on her lover, Model Arif Khan’s chest while he lays on an invisible platform. This is the magic of computer-generated imagery. Many of us would shy away from Model Arif Khan’s charms and retreat to the darkest corners of our homes as he very well claims to be the ‘merchant of love’ (prem’er shaudagor). But I say we let him woo us. I say we force ourselves to keep the video playing and be run over, trampled, squashed and flattened to the ground by this young entertainer’s drive. This is a tribute to his heavy necklaces, manly moustache, and bold dance moves.
