Mall of the Emirates, touted as the world’s first shopping resort, was developed by Majid Al Futtaim Properties and located in Dubai at interchange four on Sheikh Zayed Road. The multi-level shopping centre currently features more than 560 international brands with a total gross leasable area (GLA) of 234,479 sqm including department stores, fashion, lifestyle, sports, electronics and home furnishing outlets and the largest Carrefour in the city. The family leisure offer includes a Magic Planet family entertainment area, a 14-screen VOX Cinemas, the world-renowned Ski Dubai - the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort and snow park, the 500-seat capacity Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC) and more than 90 international dining and café options.

The mall has two adjoining hotels: the 5-star Kempinski Mall of the Emirates and the 5-star Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates Hotel. Opened in September 2005, the three-level racetrack mall has 7,000 parking spaces and is connected to the Dubai Metro. Mall of the Emirates had 33.8 million visitors in 2012.[citation needed]

  • 2012 - Mall of the Emirates ranked the 7th most productive shopping centre in the world, earning USD 1,423 per square foot per annum, according to research by the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC), as published in Shopping Centre Today
  • June 2013 – Mall of the Emirates announced Evolution 2015, a multi-stage AED 1 billion redevelopment project

Fashion

Mall of the Emirates has 250 different fashion. The Fashion Dome inside Mall of the Emirates houses 80 designer brands including: Bottega Veneta’s second largest boutique in the world after the brand’s store in Tokyo; Y-3’s first stand-alone store; Diane Von Furstenberg’s first stand-alone store; Christian Louboutin’s first store in the UAE; and Prada’s first and largest flagship store in the Middle East.[citation needed]

Dining
