Canvassing
Please do not canvass for "keep" votes like you did here. You can be sanctioned if you do this. I realize you're a newer user, and Wikipedia has many bureaucratic rules that you may not be aware of, but this is kind of a big one. If you wish to alert uninvolved users, you may do so, but it must be in a neutral manner. For example, you might post a message on someone's talk page that says, "I have recently created a new article, and a deletion discussion is taking place. I would appreciate your input on the matter, either keep or delete." However, it would probably be best if you simply didn't message anyone, as even veteran users have difficulty in walking the line between canvassing and neutral messages. You are, of course, free to ignore this advice. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 09:59, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I meant, either keep or delete. Sorry for the confusion, thank you for telling me. I'm going through your awesome "Helpful links" section to prune the Heaven Sent Gaming article's reference section. DunDunDunt (talk) 06:05, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's a harmless error. There are a lot of people out there who take this stuff seriously, though, and they sometimes shoot first and ask questions later. It's best to be careful when treading into Wikipedia's more bureaucratic areas, such as AfD, because they have rules and guidelines that are not immediately obvious. Most rules simply boil down to "be neutral", "don't disrupt the encyclopedia", or "cite your sources". Everything else is basically negotiable. Bizarrely, I never saw those links collected anywhere else, and it was a pain to remember them. The article does look better, but I don't think it's going to be kept unless you can find more independent, reliable sources. Sometimes it's too soon to create articles on your favorite subject. If it does get deleted, you can request that a copy be moved to your own user space or draft space. You can work on it there without fear of deletion. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 12:48, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
