Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. is an American animated television series based on the superhero character by Marvel Comics. The series premiered on August 11, 2013 on Disney XD in its Marvel Universe block.[1][2]
Plot
Hulk, She-Hulk, the Red Hulk, A-Bomb, and Skaar come together as the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (the acronym later stands for Supreme Military Agency of Super Humans) to tackle threats that no other superheroes can face in the cameras set up by Rick Jones for his reality show so that the people can see that Hulk is more than a monster. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. have their base near the town of Vista Verde (which is where Bruce Banner first became Hulk) and would often face various threats with a recurring one being from Hulk's archenemy the Leader (who holds the key to Skaar's origin).
Show's perspective
The show is shown from the perspective of Rick's cameras, resulting in humorous vignettes and visual gags throughout each episode, such as a description (or lack there of) of the "original" Hulk's choice words after a hamburger lands on him, Rick thinking the Hulkbuster armor is awesome, followed by a cut-away of him saying, "hey, wait a minute" or when the Collector takes off Spider-Man's mask (his face is pixelated to hide his identity).
Production
Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. was unveiled at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con.[3] Before it aired, writers Paul Dini and Henry Gilroy were confirmed to be writing on the series.[2] Supervising Producer Cort Lane described the series as, "a great story about a great group of characters who have a really interesting family-style dynamic. It's very funny, with just the most amazing voice cast."[4]
