Drummer /Percussionist, Writer, Producer, multi-instrumentalist, Composer, Studio owner, these are all titles that describe and portray the highly creative, tireless professionalism and productivity of Wayne Sheehy. Wayne has recorded and toured with some of the worlds most renowned musicians, Ron Wood, Bo Diddley, Amina Annabe, Robert Palmer and Carl Carlton, Hothouse Flowers, Moya Brenann, Damien Dempsey, Andrew Strong, The Chieftains, Bono, Cactus World News, Tania Nassibian, Lupe Fiasco, Michelle Shocked, Angelique Kidjo, Jeff Martin, The Armada, Solas to name but a few of the musicians he works with and has worked with. He has also worked with some highly successful producers, Chris Kimsey, Andy Wallace, Bob Clearmountain, Kevin Killen, Greg Cohen, Ron St Jemaine, and Jerry Wonda amongst many others. Whilst being highly regarded as a kit player Wayne has developed his own stand up system using Djembes and a full percussion rig and low end mic’s, this has been used to great success with Damien Dempsey, Moya Brennan and Jeff Martin on acoustic tours. It generates a full spectrum sound whilst incorporating groove and top end percussion, ”The Octopus System” a system which now has many emulators around the world. He has had a long and successful relationship with Zildjian Cymbals and Remo percussion, and (Billy Hyde music in Australia). Wayne owns his own studio "Ocean Studios Ireland " in a remarkable area of South West Cork ; he is a prolific writer and producer and continues to tour with acts including Ron Wood,Damien Dempsey,Carl Carlton and The Spirit of Woodstock and Moya Brennan , when schedules permit. He performed at the stunning Electric Burma concert in honour of Aung San Suu Kyhi the Burmese political activist with Bob Geldof, Bono, Lupe Fiasco, and Damien Rice and many others (18/06 2012). He tours mostly with Carl Carlton and Damien Dempsey,(No 1 Irish album 2012/13) . As well as his production suite /Studio Wayne has his own label Oceanwest records and the debut release Pa Curran "Unintentional Hero" went to number 1 in the I tunes charts 13/7/2014.He releases his first solo effort DDAAKKUU (this year).Wayne is an in demand record producer,and has a unique combination of skills allowing his production to be a complete one stop shop as he is a multi instrumentalist ,engineer and arranger, a great advantage to the recording artist whilst also being cost effective. Wayne's Ocean Studios' Ireland, is an innovative high quality recording facility/ production suite with accommadation.Wayne lives in IRELAND sharing his time between Dublin and his spiritual home Kilcrohane in West Cork.
