Alachua County Public Schools
Alachua County School District (SBAC, School Board of Alachua County) is a public school district serving Alachua County, Florida, and the Gainesville Area. The district currently has a student population of 29,533. The school district has been criticized in the past for overcrowding and its lack of action to remedy this. For the 2003 school year new school zones were implemented to help ease over crowding at the high school and middle school level, there are several elementary schools, however, that are still over crowded.

The district covers some 63 different schools including 25 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, 7 high schools, most of which have a magnet program of some sort, and 23 other learning institutions.
