Gregory Francis Soto[1] (born June 3, 1986) is an American mixed martial artist. Soto is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Biography

Born in New York, then moving to Monmouth County NJ when he was 7 years old he began wrestling in school. Soto graduated from Monmouth University obtaining a degree in Criminal Justice.
MMA career
When he was a teenager, Soto met Kurt Pellegrino and immediately started training MMA.[citation needed] Soto made his pro debut at 18 years old fighting in the Combat in the Cage promotion. Soto compiled a 7-0 record before signing with the UFC.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
After stepping in as a replacement for Ricardo Funch, Soto made his UFC debut against The Ultimate Fighter alumni, Matthew Riddle, on the preliminary card of UFC 111. Soto lost the fight via disqualification in round 3 after an illegal upkick rendered Riddle unable to continue.
Soto then fought Nick Osipczak at UFC 118.[2] Soto upset Osipczak, winning the fight via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Soto next faced Daniel Roberts on January 1, 2011 at UFC 125.[3] He lost via submission (kimura) in the first round, injuring his left shoulder in the fight.[4] On January 30, 2011, Soto was released from his UFC contract along with Amilcar Alves.
Post UFC
Soto defeated Chip Moraza-Pollard via second round triangle choke to win his first post UFC fight on December 10, 2011 at CFFC 12.
Personal life
Soto graduated from college in 2008 and received a Masters Certificate in Homeland Security from Monmouth University. He and a longtime girlfriend had a son in 2012.[citation needed]
