Description
Whale's Tale Water Park is a 17 acre water park located in Lincoln, New Hampshire. The park has a number of rides that the whole family can enjoy.[1] Operating for more than 25 years,[2] Whale’s Tale Water Park is New England’s favourite[3] and has been pronounced the Best in Class Waterpark in America by Aquatics International Magazine.[4]
Rides
The park has a total of 11 attractions, with recent additions of the Shipwreck Island in 2010, and the Poseidon’s Voyage in 2013. The park features rides for all ages, such as the Whale Harbor, a pool no deeper than 16 inches where young kids and toddlers can play in. It contains 4 waterslides and 3 water fountains.[5] There are 6 featured waterslides in the park.
- The Banzai Pipeline: a large water slide where riders start in an enclosed tube until they reach the peak where they experience a backward ride down the slide.[5]
- The Poseidon’s Voyage: a long water slide where riders start in a SkyBox (a steep vertical launch capsule), which spirals down into a 360 degree loop towards the end.[5]
- Harpoon Express: a 400 meter long and 7 feet wide bobsled style tube that carries 1-3 persons per raft.[5]
- The Beluga Boggin: a 360 meters, figure 8 shaped, water slide suitable for small children.[5]
- The Plunge: a double slide that reaches speeds up to 40mph, where riders can race each and climb up and do it again![5]
- Downpour: a 430 meter long winding slide that starts 50 meters in the air. It is also connected to the Plunge.[5]
Other rides include Shipwreck Island, one of the biggest expansion on site that is guaranteed to get you wet. It includes 7 waterslides and various water sprays and can obtain hundreds of people all at once![4][6]
Willie’s Wild Waves is a large wave pool with a shallow and deep end for the whole family to enjoy.[1]
Jonah’s Escape is a large gentle river that moves swimmers around under gentle waterfalls.[5]
Whale’s Tale is also one of the very few water parks in the country that feature the "eye of the storm," where guests slide first through an enclosed slide and then into a giant bowl where they go around several times before dropping through a hole in the center into a pool.
Weight restrictions apply and vary on each ride.[6]
Food
The park includes two main food locations, and one main beverage location in addition to the outdoor bar and restaurant, and concession stands.[6][7]
- The Porthole Pizzeria serves pizzas, subs, fried dough, Dippin’ dots ice cream and draft beer.[6][7]
- Harborside Café serves burgers, chicken fingers, fries, salads, sandwiches, beverages and more.[6][7]
- The Oasis Beach Bar & Grill offers mixed drinks, smoothies, bottled and draft beer, only when the weather permits.[6][7]
- An ice cream location called Dippin’ Dots is also available which features a variety of ice cream for everyone to enjoy.[6][7]
Coolers are allowed into the park with food and drinks, but permits any glass or alcohol. Coolers will be checked at the front gates before entering into the park. All beverages are required to be factory sealed.[6][7]
Staff at The Whale’s Tale wants to take care of the cooking for the visitors, so it is preferred that visitors do not bring food with them, but purchase food at any of the locations in the park.[7]
Other Attractions
A side attraction called the Castaway Cove, is an 85 foot heated pool designed in the shape of a whale, set at 88 degrees with underwater seating. It is surrounded by 3 large hot tubs, all maintained at 104 degrees, with available table services located around the pool.[1][5]
Cabanas are also made available to the visitors on a first come first serve basis, which includes a 10 feet shade with retractable screens, a lunch table of 4 chairs, 2 lounge chairs and a cocktail table. They are located around the beach and Castaway Cove.[1][6][7]
All around the park are large green areas which are available to use by the visitors. Equipment like chairs and blankets can be brought and set up to use for the day.[7]

All staff at The Whale’s Tale is certified by the American Red Cross, ServSafe and Certified Pool Operators. It is important that all park rules are followed by the visitors as they will be held responsible for any safety issues.[6][7]
