Dirty Loops is a band from Stockholm, Sweden, consisting of Jonah Nilsson (vocals and piano), Henrik Linder (bass) and Aaron Mellergårdh (drums).
Background
The band's three members all studied music at Södra Latin together. Nilsson studied classical theory while Linder and Mellergårdh studied Jazz.
After high school they attended the Royal College of Music in Stockholm together. Jonah Nilsson has also studied music at Bethel College. Henrik Linder attended Adolf Fredrik Music School as a child. The band was formed in 2010.[1]
Henrik Linder began his music career at age four as a pianist. At age 13, he began playing bass.
Jonah Nilsson started singing even as a child, while his parents were in the choir of the Katarina Church, Stockholm. At age 11 he began playing piano. He was a background singer and played piano on Danny Saucedos tour in 2005, the year when Danny debuted on the Swedish TV show Idol.
History
The band used to gather in a rehearsal room in the old town and play together. Then, one day they decided to record a music video in a fusion version of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance ". Then they quickly became an internet phenomenon. With millions of views on YouTube and Myspace with covers of Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Adele, and Lady Gaga, the phone started ringing.
In February 2011, producer and songwriter Andreas Carlsson became the band's manager.
September 3, 2011 the band played along with Danny Saucedo on Swedish Rockbjörnen, Aftonbladet Music gala.
The manager Andreas Carlsson has placed great emphasis on building the band's trademark. Above all, he advises to be careful with what they put up on and what they publish on the Internet. They have set up in several television interviews but have not played in any TV studios.
Andreas Carlsson has helped the band to get a global record deal. In 2012, the band traveled to the U.S. to face several major music profiles, among others, singer Brian McKnight, drummer Simon Phillips and bassist Nathan East . Eventually they signed a record contract with world renowned producer and record label director David Foster and Universal Music subsidiary Verve.
Debut album Loopified
Their debut album was released 16 April 2014 in Japan and 19 May in the UK, and is scheduled to be released August 19 in the US.
Tours
In late 2012 the band supported David Foster and Andreas Carlsson in Japan, China, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand for the "David Foster & Friends Tour." They played for tens of thousands of people during the tour. One highlight of the tour was when Jonah did a duet with Chaka Khan.
