Template:Contains Korean text Park Sojin (born May 21, 1986; Hangul: 박소진), better known by her stage name Sojin (Hangul: 소진), is a South Korean idol singer. She is best known as the leader and lead vocalist of the girl group, Girl's Day under Dream Tea Entertainment.

Biography

Sojin was born on May 21, 1986, in Daegu, South Korea. She attended Lee Hyun Elementary School, Seojin Middle School and Kyungduk Girls' High School.[1] She majored in Mechanical Engineering at Yeongnam University.[2] Sojin is skilled at playing the piano and writing calligraphy. She became a Girl's Day member from coincidentally being introduced to a sound engineer.

Career

Girl's Day

On July 07, 2010 Sojin debuted as a member of Girl's Day on KBS Music Bank with their debut single, Tilt My Head.[3]

On October 29, after the two members leave the group leaving Sojin,Jihae and Minah Girlsday cameback with a new line-up adding Two new Members Yura and Hyeri. They released the group's first digital single, "Girl's Day Party 2". On October 30 the MV for their lead track, "Nothing Lasts Forever" was released.

On January 9, 2011 Sojin released her first solo single for the "Flames of Desire" OST "Our Love Like This". Although it's a remake of Gilme's version of the song, Sojin's clear vocals lends a bittersweet strength to the ballad.

On April 19,2012 Girlsday made a comeback with a title track Oh My God, they released a mini album "Everyday II" with 5 tracks consist "Telepathy" which was composed by Girlsday Sojin. Its expresses a fluctuating mind of a girl who finds her ideal type and tries to attract him with telepathy.

On December 07, 2012 Girlsday Sojin also wrote the Lyrics for Tokyo Girl "It's Snowing" with a male composer. A cute song which evoke childlike innocence.

On March 14, 2013 Girlsday released Full Length Album with a title track "Expectation". It was revealed that Sojin written and composed the intro song "Girl's Day World" and the Girlsday members also penned the lyrics for I Don't Mind.


On April 05, 2013 Electroboyz return with Ma Boy 3 feat. Girl’s Day Sojin on Music Bank. Although the track originally features Nana, electroboyz have chosen the talented Sojin of Girlsday to help with their rockin’ comeback performance.

On August 9, 2013 Girl's Day's Sojin has lent a helping hand for her sunbae Deux return by participating in the upcoming 20th anniversary tribute album. Her participating track, "In the Summer", is a remake of Deux's 1994 hit and features the rap of Zizo, who appeared on Show Me the Money 2'.

On October 15,2013 Girl's Day released the song "Let's Go", It was revealed to be written and composed by Sojin, for young adults to get encouraged and to not worry about the future.


On November 07, 2013 Sojin has lent her voice for the second OST "I Want to Turn Back Time' for Passionate Love.

The song, "I Want To Turn Back Time', is one that reminisces on past days.

-On March 2, 2014, Sojin collaborated with hip hop artist Crucial Star on a remake of Park Hye Kyung's song "Three Things I Want to Give You".[4]

Influences

Sojin says her biggest influence in life is Uhm Jung Hwa. She describes her as a long time leader of her generation and shows abundant expressiveness and depth.[5]

Health

On July 11, 2011, she suffered respiratory problems and was rushed to a hospital. A Dream Tea representative confirmed that this was due to a shortness of breath. Then, before her comeback promotions, she lost weight rapidly – decreasing from Template:Unit weight to Template:Unit weight, over a short period of time. During her promotions, she showed a lack of balance in her music show performances. Further tests determined that she was in no immediate danger, instead that she was suffering from stress regarding the busy schedule pending her comeback.[6]
