Line Walker (Traditional Chinese: 使徒行者; literally "Apostle Walker") (Chinese: 使徒行者; Jyutping: sai2 tou4 haang4 ze2) is a 2014 Hong Kong crime thriller drama produced by TVB, starring Michael Miu, Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam as the main leads with Sharon Chan, Benz Hui, Elena Kong, Sammy Sum, Oscar Leung and Toby Leung in main supporting roles. Filming took place from January 2014 till May 2014. The drama will begin broadcasting on August 25 to October 3, 2014, on TVB Jade channel during its 9:30-10:30 p.m. timeslot.

Synopsis

The drama follows the lives of undercover police agents that must live a double life in secrecy. Not knowing when they can return to their normal life they endure the constant fair of being uncovered by those they are assigned to infiltrate.

Plot summary

Cheuk Hoi (Michael Miu) is the Chief inspector of Hong Kong’s Criminal Intelligence Bureau (CIB) police unit. He is a righteous supervisors that will resort to unethical tactics in order to clear the name of his subordinates that has gone missing and deemed by the police department to have strayed to the criminal side. When he finds his friend Hong Dou Hang, a fellow Chief inspector in the CIB unit thrown down a building mysteriously, he finds out from Hang's dying words that there is a mole in the Hong Kong police department. In order to protect the life of his undercover agents Hang has deleted the files of five of his undercover agents, but he dies before he could tell Hoi the names of his undercover agent. Remembering what Hang told him and not trusting anyone in the department Hoi does not even tell his supervisors about Hang's dying words instead he investigates on his own to try to find who Hang's five undercover agents are.

With clues left behind by Hang, Hoi finds undercover agent Ting Siu Ka (Charmaine Sheh) who fronts as an owner of a foot message parlor. Siu Ka was only in charged of gathering information for Hong sir but Hoi gives her the task to help him find the other four undercover agents. Siu Ka gets close to Sit Ka Keung (Raymond Lam), nicknamed Seed who is part of a gambling ring. He fronts as a ice deliveryman but is really in charge of collect unpaid gambling debts. Siu Ka previously butted heads with Seed and his partner Muk Sut but knows of their connections to a major triad organization.

Meanwhile Kobe Lin Ho Kan (Sammy Shum), another undercover agent of Hong sir, who is fronting as a crooked stock broker in order to go to prison and get close with triad boss Cham Foon Hei as his last assignment from Hong sir, but Foon Hei proves to be a more complicated person then Kobe expected. Not knowing if Foon Hei is joking or being serious, Kobe assumes he had failed at his assignment. However upon Kobe's release from prison Foon Hei comes looking for him and offers Kobe to work for him. But in order for Kobe to follow through with his undercover assignment it had cost him his relationship with ICAC agent Yan Mok Sin Yan (Sharon Chan), who is not aware that Kobe is a undercover agent.

Development and casting

  • The sales presentation clip was filmed in October 2013. The original 57 second clip featured Michael Miu, Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam, Sharon Chan, Elena Kong, Sammy Leung and KK Cheung.[1][2]The sales presentation clip was unveiled on November 7, 2013, for 2014 drama sales pitch.[3][4]
  • Tony Leung Ka-fai was originally to be part of the cast but had to pull out of the drama due to an rib injury.[5]
  • Costume fitting was held on February 28, 2014.
  • The blessing ceremony took place on February 28, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Tseung Kwan O TVB City[6]
  • Sammy Leung was originally to play the role of "Lin Ho Kan" but had to leave the drama during the middle of filming due to health reasons. Sammy Sum was then given the role of "Lin Ho Kan", while Patrick Tang took on Sammy Sum's originally role "Yip Siu Leung".[7]
  • On March 18, 2014, while filming a motorcycle scene, Sammy Sum suffered a wrist fracture injury on his right hand when he fell and landed on his hand. Sum was admitted to the hospital for surgery on March 21. Filming was delayed by a few weeks while Sum recovered.[8]
  • On March 24, 2014, an extended trailer of the drama was previewed at FILMART 2014.[9]
