Chittapuram is a village in Ipur Mandal, Guntur District Andhra Pradesh India. Part of the Vinukonda assembly constituency and the NarasaraoPet parliamentary constituency, it is located 28 kilometres(49 miles)from Narasaraopet and Guntur, which are the closest cities to the village. The village is also 5 km from Ipur and 224 km from State capital, Hyderabad. The village name is derived from old lady Chittemma.
Telugu, Urdhu is the local language here. Total population of Chittapuram is 1106. There are 604 males and 502 females living in 388 houses. The total area of Chittapuram is only 488 hectares.
Overview
The village [panchayat] is mostly an agrarian village, most of the residents are either farmers or marginal farmers. Chittapuram is considered to be one of the very few prosperous villages in the Mandal in terms of political front, education and entrepreneurship. This village is considered to be very active and progressive. The village has an upper primary school run by the Mandal Parishad, an RO Water Plant and two milk collection centres located in the centre of the village. There is one paddy milling unit on the outskirts of the village.
Main
There are temples built for lord Rama, one at the pinnacle of the village and is popularly known as “Ramulavari Meda”. Another pinnacle of the village is Gogasani Ramaiah Arugu located at Saviti. There is a temple for lord Ganesh, which was in a dilapidated condition. The Ganesh Youth came together and had renovated the temple. Now regular puja is being conducted in the temple by the devotees.
Other
There is a church located on the road to Vinukonda, named ‘Santhi Nivas’ that belongs to the Diocese of Guntur. And there is 1 Masjid at "Saviti" beside Raghavulu Tiffin center. There are two tiffin centers that can be found on the main road, they are the: Koteswaramma and Raghavulu. [1]
