Evan Peters (born January 20, 1987)[1] is an American actor. He is best known for his roles on the FX television series American Horror Story as well as his role as Quicksilver in the 2014 Marvel Entertainment film X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Early life

Peters was born in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Julie and Phil Peters. He was raised in Ballwin, Missouri, and attended a Roman Catholic grade school.[2] Peters moved to Grand Blanc, Michigan, where he pursued modeling and took local acting classes.[3] He attended Grand Blanc Community High School, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career, where he then attended Burbank High School, and later began homeschooling classes.

Career

On his second audition, Peters was chosen by producer Michael Picchiottino for the role of Adam in Clipping Adam. The role earned him a Screen Actors Guild Emerging Actor Award, Jury Award for Best Actor at the Eclipse Film Festival, Best Young Actor at the Down Under International Film Festival, and Best Breakthrough Performance at the Phoenix Film Festival. He performed in numerous television commercials for Sony PlayStation, Progressive Insurance, Moviefone, Sour Patch Kids, Papa John's Pizza, and Kellogg. He appeared in the MGM film Sleepover, the Disney Channel series Phil of the Future, and the ABC series The Days. He landed a role in the ABC sci-fi thriller series Invasion, and had supporting roles in films such as Gardens of the Night, An American Crime, Kick-Ass, Never Back Down (and Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown), and guest roles on The Mentalist, House, Monk, The Office, In Plain Sight, and Parenthood. He has also starred in several theater plays, including playing Fagin in a production of Oliver Twist at the Met Theater.

Peters' breakthrough role was teenage sociopath murderer Template:AHSCharacter in the first season of the FX series American Horror Story. He starred in the second season as Template:AHSCharacter, a man wrongly accused of killing his wife. In the third season, Coven he starred as Template:AHSCharacter, a frat boy who is killed and brought back to life as a "Frankenstein's monster" type of creature. Peters is returning in the fourth season Freak Show as Jimmy Darling, a performer in the freak show with deformed hands.[1]

Peters portrayed Quicksilver in the 2014 film X-Men: Days of Future Past.[4]

Personal life

Peters began dating Emma Roberts in 2012.[5] Someone at the couple's hotel overheard a dispute coming from their room and called police, who arrived to find Peters with a bloody nose and several bite marks.[6] Roberts was released several hours after her arrest when Peters declined to press charges.[6] In a joint statement, Roberts and Peters called it "an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding," and stated that they "are working together to move past it."[5] Media reports on January 6, 2014 said they had become engaged over the holidays.[7]
