Peter Bernard David De la Mare (1920-1989[1]) was a New Zealand chemist. In 1942 he graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a MSc in chemistry, winning the shirtcliffe fellowship and the Jacob Joseph scholarship[2]

In 1983 he was awarded an honoury DSc from Victoria University of Wellington and in 1985 he won the Hector Medal, then the highest award in New Zealand science.[3]
